Famous NFL running back Bijan Robinson made a cameo in Outer Banks season 4, sparking queries about how the athlete came to be on the popular Netflix set, and whether he will return. The new season of Outer Banks brings in many new faces that are integral to the Pogues’ new treasure hunt. As the group accepts Wes Genrette’s proposition to go after Blackbeard’s treasure, which was set up in Outer Banks season 3, they come face to face with old and new characters that may represent an obstacle in their path.
The Outer Banks‘ cast includes recurring stars Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Jonathan Daviss, Madison Bailey, Rudy Pankow, Carlacia Grant, and Drew Starkey. While the show also brings back familiar supporting characters, some key additions to the casting promise to take the show to new and exciting shores. A special appearance by NFL player Bijan Robinson in Outer Banks season 4 was recently addressed by creator Josh Pate, along with the implications the cameo proposes for the emerging actor and his possible return for Outer Banks season 5.
Who Bijan Robinson Plays & Where To Spot Him In Outer Banks Season 4
Bijan Robinson Plays An Opposing Blackbeard Treasure Hunter In Outer Banks Season 4 Episode 2
Bijan Robinson first entered the Outer Banks set with actor Jonathan Daviss (Pope in the show). Robinson got to see his friend in action and also met the show’s co-creator Josh Pate, who quickly understood the NFL player’s passion for acting. Eventually, Pate went on to write a character for Robinson to play in season 4. However, this was given to another actor due to scheduling conflicts (via ESPN). Robinson ended up doing a cameo in episode 2 of Outer Banks‘ new season, with Pate expressing having plans for his character in a potential season 5 of Outer Banks.
Episode 2, titled “Blackbeard”, sees the Pogues travel to Goat Island to retrieve a lost amulet from Blackbeard’s last ship. Another boat reveals they are not the only ones trying to find the trinket that night. NFL star Bijan Robinson plays Warrick, a member of the opposing Blackbeard treasure hunters in Outer Banks season 4. His cameo is very short, as the Pogues quickly take off after having pulled JJ and Kie back on board. However, Robinson’s character could easily be added back into the Blackbeard treasure hunt, or any new hunts, considering Warrick is involved in the trade.
Bijan Robinson’s Casting Repeats Outer Banks Season 3’s Surprise Athlete Cameo
UNC player Armando Bacot Made A Cameo In Outer Banks Season 3
Robinson is not the first athlete to cameo in Outer Banks. Last season, creators Josh Pate and Shannon Burke invited the then-UNC basketball player, Armando Bacot, to make a cameo in episode 8, “Tapping the Rudder.” (via The News & Observer) The now-Grizzlies player had one line as Barracuda Mike’s bodyguard when John B and JJ approached the latter to request a ride on his airplane going to South America. As JJ spoke with Barracuda Mike, John B had a small exchange with Bacot, who clearly intimidated the Pogue and communicated that his boss was someone not to mess with.
Robinson marks the second athlete cameo in Outer Banks, speaking on the creators’ fascination with both the NFL and NBA. While Bacot has expressed no desire to pursue any other acting roles, Robinson’s performing future is more hopeful. The NFL star player told ESPN “there are potential parts” he could play, but “can’t discuss yet.” If Outer Banks season 4 continues getting positive reviews, perhaps season 5 could see the athlete come back in a larger role.
