New ‘What If…?’ Arc Coming in July is the Perfect Way to Bring Back Elizabeth Olsen, Peter Parker for a Marvel Project

This is certainly a no-brainer for the What If…? series.

Marvel recently announced its latest What If…? comic storyline, and it looks at an utterly interesting possibility instead. After all, in the multiverse which teems with possibilities, everything that can happen, has already happened, in some universe. The upcoming story, set to release on August 27, is titled ‘What If…?’ Wanda Maximoff and Peter Parker Were Siblings: A Scarlet Witch & Spider-Man Story’.

Authored by Seanan McGuire, it looks into the universe where our very own Scarlet Witch, who spends much of her childhood in an orphanage, is adopted by a certain May and Ben Parker. This leads to Wanda Maximoff becoming Wanda Parker, leading to a great number of adventures that seemingly end in tragedy for both characters.

The possibilities associated with this story, and the fact that it brings together two of the most compelling characters of Marvel’s rich universe, the arc itself is food for thought, as far as the creators of What If…? TV series are concerned

This What If…? comic arc looks at Wanda Maximoff as Peter Parker’s adopted sister

Elizabeth Olsen in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

The sheer multitude of possibilities with such an arc is endless, and the comic creator has chosen an intriguing plot as well. In this universe, Wanda is adopted by Aunt May and Uncle Ben, which makes her a sister to Peter Parker, destined to emerge as the neighborhood-friendly superhero.

Some things go as they have always done, as a teenage Peter Parker struggles to keep his newfound powers a secret, and the Scarlet Witch also sees her powers burgeon over time. She learns to control them via guidance from none other than Doctor Strange, who the cinematic version tried to completely wreck in The Multiverse of Madness.

Further, we see The Scarlet Witch eventually team up with Spider-Man to protect their city, New York. Peter even is alongside his sister at the Sanctum Sanctorum, but as all Spider-Man stories tend to him, he must also face loss and grief.

While Spider-Man is lost in his grief, The Scarlet Witch sets off alone and eventually meets a certain Pietro Maximoff, her biological brother. This leads her to eventually choose between her former life, and her new one alongside Quicksilver, setting up an intense tale that is bound to impress fans.

Whether it can be used in the animated series is one thing. However, fans may argue there are plenty of other ways in which this storyline can prove interesting for the overall MCU itself.

The storyline in itself is an obvious option for What If…? Season 3. The series has already integrated a number of interesting storylines from the overall comics, and can do a lot with such a story being played out, However, there might be other reasons why it can prove an option for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker as well.

Currently looking forward to the fourth (kind-of) standalone film, there is little clarity as to which direction Tom Holland’s character will head next. While rumors constantly state that the big bosses are looking to see him star alongside Tom Hardy’s Venom, if that does not work out, this completely can.

After all, not many were happy with the way The Scarlet Witch went on her multiversal rampage in the latest Doctor Strange flick. Also seen in WandaVision, The Scarlet Witch, assumedly died at the end of the movie. However, Elizabeth Olsen can easily reprise her role via, once again, the multiverse.

Further, fans might also be interested in the obviously hilarious ways the intense Wanda Maximoff converses with Holland’s sometimes clueless Spider-Man, who has already had his fair share of adventures with respect to the multiverse. Hence, his character, teaming up on another adventure, this time with a Wanda Maximoff variant, is an option to look at.

Of course, a more direct inclusion of the arc via the animated series might be the smartest move to make, for starters.

What If…? Is available to be streamed on Disney+.
