New Financial Crisis: Harry and Meghan Lost Million Dollar Contract, How to Live?

Meghan says Kate, Prince William's wife, made her cry before wedding to Harry - People - The Jakarta Post

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are desperate to keep their Netflix deal as it would be “impossible” for the couple to recover from the rumored collapse, according to a royal expert.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex put pen to paper on a huge $128 million mega contract with the streaming giant in 2020, just a few months after they announced they would be stepping down as senior working royals.

The couple have since relocated to the United States and settled in Montecito, California with their two children, Archie and Lilibet. However, they have left Netflix bosses and fans disappointed with the lack of new projects.

The duo featured in a docu-series, ‘Harry & Meghan’, which focused on their life behind-the-scenes as they embarked on a new chapter across the Atlantic. But the series received mixed reviews, as did Harry’s documentary ‘Heart of Invictus’, which followed the Duke of Sussex’s Invictus Games.

Reports suggest Netflix are considering ditching the five-year deal and royal author Tom Quinn has predicted they could struggle with the loss of earnings from the deal.

Harry and Meghan are on the brink of losing their multi-million-dollar Netflix contract for the simple reason that Netflix expected a great deal more from the couple,” Quinn told The Mirror.

Harry and Meghan facing Spotify repeat

How Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Will Make Their Money - Newsweek

He claimed that Harry and Meghan’s humiliating split with Spotify, in which their contract was axed early over the lack of projects, has impacted the couple and they are desperate to avoid a similar outcome with Netflix.

“It’s very likely to be a repeat of the problem with the couple’s Spotify contract which came to an abrupt end in 2023 after Harry and Meghan failed, according to a Spotify spokesperson, to meet ‘productivity benchmarks’,” Quinn continued.

“It’s always been Meghan’s dream to build a hugely successful commercial enterprise and she is still convinced – even after the Spotify debacle – that she has the drive and talent to make this happen. The loss of the Netflix contract would be a major blow and one from which it would be all but impossible to recover.”
