Meghan Markle's potential ally turned critic: How Tina Brown's harsh judgments keep piling up | Marca

Meghan Markle has lost what could have been a powerful ally in the form of Tina Brown, one of Princess Diana’s closest confidants. Brown, a former Vanity Fair editor and renowned royal biographer, initially had a favorable connection to the late Princess of Wales.

However, Meghan’s approach to life within – and outside – the Royal Family has turned Brown into one of her fiercest public critics. Brown recently unleashed another wave of stinging remarks, calling Meghan’s judgment “the worst in the world” during an appearance on The Ankler podcast.

The royal expert didn’t hold back, calling the couple’s departure from the Royal Family – dubbed “Megxit” – a “disaster” for both sides. Brown also argued that Meghan is clueless about public relations, a key area where Princess Diana excelled.

A fallout in the making

Tina Brown’s frustration with Meghan has been simmering for years. In her 2022 book, The Palace Papers, Brown cited Meghan’s alleged disdain for the Royal Family’s representational duties.

During the Sussexes’ 2018 tour of Australia, which featured 75 engagements in just 16 days, Meghan reportedly hated the entire experience and described the trip as “pointless.” A palace insider claimed Meghan found it “silly” that crowds gathered to see them.

Brown believes this inability to grasp the importance of such appearances highlights Meghan’s lack of long-term vision. She criticized the Duchess for assuming she could follow in Diana’s footsteps without acknowledging the hard work Diana put into becoming a global humanitarian icon.

Addicted to drama

In recent interviews, Brown argued that Meghan and Harry are “addicted to drama” and made “bad choices” that ultimately backfired. She lamented that Harry, once beloved by the public, followed Meghan “like a lamb to the slaughter.”

While Brown noted that Harry has found a sense of purpose through the Invictus Games, she claimed Meghan has struggled to establish a meaningful personal brand.

Brown’s biting commentary continued with a prediction that Harry may one day “wake up and realize he’s living in Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop,” needing to escape to a pub to reconnect with himself.

As Tina Brown’s criticisms grow louder, it’s clear that Meghan Markle has not only lost an influential ally – she’s gained a relentless detractor determined to hold her decisions under the microscope.
