There has been speculation that the Duke of Sussex wants a fresh start with his family back in the UK.
Meghan Markle wants Prince Harry to stop clinging onto a royal dream and move forward with their new lives in California, GB News’ Digital Royal Editor has claimed.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down as working royals in 2020 and subsequently moved to Montecito with their two children Archie, five, and Lilibet, three.
There has been speculation that the Duke of Sussex, who will turn 40 this month, wants a fresh start with his family back in the UK, especially in light of his father’s cancer diagnosis earlier this year.
Insiders have claimed that Harry is considering turning to trusted allies to help ease his return, mapping out a “blueprint” for the timeline of his homecoming.
Meghan Markle ‘wants Prince Harry to stop clinging onto royal dream’
However, Meghan instead wants Harry to focus on his life in the US with his family and forsake his royal dream, GB News’ Digital Royal Editor Svar Nanan-Sen said.
He sat down with GB News’ Royal Correspondent Cameron Walker for this week’s episode of The Royal Record to discuss the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s new approach to life as the prince’s 40th birthday looms.
Cameron said: “A number of reports appear to suggest that Meghan wants Harry to look forward now, rather than constantly looking back and be bitter about the past 40 years because he’s halfway through his life and what’s next for him?”
Svar agreed, adding: “That makes sense. He’s got a young family in the US with Meghan and his two children, Archie and Lilibet. I think fatherhood is a very important thing for Harry and something that he’s really enjoying, but also he has other projects that he can work on.
“We know how successful the Invictus Games is at the moment. He announced that there is going to be one in 2025 in Vancouver which they’re gearing up for currently and there’s also the one that’s going to be based in the UK, in Birmingham in 2027.”
Harry set up the Invictus Games in 2014 when he was still a working royal and despite leaving the firm, the prince has continued to work with the sporting event.
The duke is also busy preparing for an upcoming trip to New York, where he is set to “advance a number of his patronages and philanthropic initiatives,” a spokesman for the prince said.
Meghan wants Harry to focus on his current and future endeavours, looking away “from any role in the Royal Family”.
Svar said: “I can see where Meghan’s coming from in that sense that Harry has spent a lot of his time looking back and kind of trying to right the wrongs that he thinks went on many years ago.
“I think Meghan wants him to look kind of forward in a way from any role in the royal family. They stepped away in 2020.
“They tried to agree to a part-time role and that didn’t come to fruition. So I think from Meghan’s perspective, it’s all about what their life can be like now in the US.”
