Meghan Markle reveals annoyance at Prince William over legal case

Meghan Markle isn’t too fond of her brother-in-law, Prince William.

The former “Suits” actress reveals in her and Prince Harry’s Netflix docuseries that she is annoyed at the Prince of Wales for allegedly colluding against her Associated Newspapers lawsuit.

Markle’s lawyer Jenny Afia recounts in Episode 6 of “Harry & Meghan,” which began streaming Thursday, that the judge presiding over the Duchess of Sussex’s legal case ruled in her favor in 2021.

“Then Associated Newspapers predictably appealed,” Afia says. “When we were just about to go the court of appeal, a senior member of [William’s] team came forward to give his witness statement, which wasn’t required, and sadly there’s just no way he could have done that without the authority of his bosses.”

Afia is referring to Jason Knauf, a former communications secretary for William, 40, and his wife, Kate Middleton, as well as Harry, 38, and Markle, 41.

Knauf is also the staffer who reportedly made a complaint against Markle to HR in 2018, claiming she was bullying other staff members, which she denied. Knauf then became the CEO of William and Middleton’s Royal Foundation, a post he left earlier this year. He is now a board member of the Earthshot Prize, which William founded.

In “Harry & Meghan,” the couple are filmed in an unnamed female friend’s New York apartment discussing the legal development when the pal points out that Knauf works for William, who seemingly would have had to have given his OK for the witness statement.

“I know, like, that, like, it’s your brother,” Markle says, clearly irked while throwing up her hands. “It’s your brother. I’m not going to say anything about your brother, but it’s so obvious it’s like …”

“It’s even more obvious that they’ll try and cover it up,” Harry retorts.

It’s not the only time the Sussexes take swipes at William in the docuseries.

In another episode, Harry alleges his older brother broke a pact the pair forged not to let their offices trade negative press stories about each other.

“William and I both saw what happened in our dad [King Charles III]’s office, and we made an agreement that we would never let that happen to our office,” he says.

“I would far rather get destroyed in the press than play along with this game or business of trading, and to see my brother’s office doing the same thing that we promised the two of us would never ever do, that was heartbreaking.”

Harry also claims William lost his temper during a family meeting held after he and Markle announced they were quitting the royal family in January 2020.

“It was terrifying to have my brother scream and shout at me, and my father say things that just simply weren’t true, and my grandmother [Queen Elizabeth II] quietly sit there and just take it all in,” he remembers.

“The saddest part of it was this wedge that it created between myself and my brother.”

The palace has declined to comment on “Harry & Meghan.”
