Meghan Markle shot to fame for her role as Rachel Zane on the hit legal drama Suits, but the Duchess of Sussex hasn’t made it to any of the recent cast reunions
Meghan Markle is hoping to do “damage control” on her past friendships after “hurting” her former Suits co-stars, according to a source.
The Duchess of Sussex gained a legion of fans for her role as Rachel Zane on the legal drama. However, Meghan left the show after announcing her engagement to Prince Harry and has failed to show up to the recent cast reunion at the Golden Globe Awards.
A source has suggested the frosty relationships could soon change, however, with Meghan believed to be trying to “woo” he friends back. She’s believed to be calling on her former friends to appear in her new podcast after facing a major setback.
The source said: “It’s all very well for Meghan to expect support when she needs it and obviously she’s desperate for this podcast to be a success, but a lot of people think she’s got real cheek to be asking for any sort of help from her old co-stars.” Speaking to GB News, the source said Meghan has previously “shown no interest in staying in touch”.
They also claimed she refused to join a WhatsApp group with her co-stars. The source said her former co-stars are “insulted” by Meghan’s attempts to distance herself from her acting career and believe should should have been “more loyal to her roots.”
The source continued: “For her to now come with cap in hand asking for them to appear on her podcast and help promote her products is pretty tone-deaf, to say the least.” They also suggested Meghan will “need to explain herself and do some serious damage control” if she hopes to reunite with her former friends as there are “a lot of hurt feelings”.
The comments come after it was reported Meghan could call on her former Suits co-stars to appear on her new podcast as she now has a “smaller pool” of friends to rely on as guests. The Duchess of Sussex signed a partnership with Lemonada in February to launch a “dynamic new podcast” after she and Harry were axed from Spotify.
Meghan’s new podcast deal has already faced setbacks as the release date has reportedly been pushed back to 2025. Celebrity PR specialist Kayley Cornelius has suggested Meghan might struggle to get guests on her new podcast, but said there are some people she could turn to.
Speaking on behalf of Betfred, she said: “While Meghan’s contact list may not have completely diminished, she will certainly have a smaller pool to rely on. Initially, we might expect her to call in favors from her remaining friends and work through their networks.”
