Meghan Markle is “genuinely hurt” by her estrangement from the Royal Family, according to a source, who confirmed that the Firm is currently not willing to sit down and discuss their issues

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle might have to carefully time their efforts to mend fences with the Royal Family, as 2024 has been a year fraught with challenges for the monarchy.

With both King Charles and Princess Kate grappling with cancer diagnoses and treatments, Queen Camilla and Prince William have faced additional pressures. And now an insider has said that Harry seems more inclined to put the past behind him, whereas Meghan is keen on having a candid discussion with the Royal Household.

The source said: “Harry is more willing to move on, let’s just say that. It’s not a case of Meghan being difficult, she genuinely feels hurt and would like some kind of sit down to hash things through – but that’s not something the other side is willing to consider at this time.”

Meghan Markle hasn’t met with Prince William and Princess Kate in years

It’s been reported that the Sussexes made a private overture to Kate after hearing about her illness in March, complementing it with a public note of encouragement, reports the Express. Their public statement read: “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace.”

Since Harry and Meghan stepped back from Royal duties in 2020, the ranks of active royals have dwindled. Now, only William and Kate, along with the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, represent the working Royals under 70. However, a return for Harry and Meghan appears unlikely in the near future.

According to an inside source: “Harry and Meghan are expecting an apology and so are senior members of the Royal Family. It’s got to the point now where both sides can’t see where they’ve gone wrong and there’s no meeting in the middle. It’s a stalemate.”

Since their controversial move to the United States, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have kept their distance from the rest of the royals, including their small children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Their minimal contact with their Royal relatives overseas is reportedly causing deep sorrow for King Charles.

Famed Royal commentator and author, Tom Quinn, shed light on King Charles’s intentions to travel across the globe to spend quality time with his distant family. In an exclusive chat with The Mirror, he said: “Charles has had discussions about an official visit to the United States at some time in the future, and there is no doubt if it goes ahead he would build in time to visit his youngest son and his grandchildren, but there are mountains of planning to be overcome before that becomes even a remote possibility. He is desperate to see them and hates the idea that Archie and Lili will not remember him as the warm friendly grandfather he wants to be.”
