With nine days until the premiere of her new cooking show, Meghan Markle has been accused of “ruthless control freakery”.

With Love, Meghan is set to air on January 15, with the 43-year-old expressing her excitement last week. As well as sharing the trailer on Thursday, Meghan wrote on her new Instagram account: “I have been so excited to share this with you! I hope you love the show as much as I loved making it. Wishing you all a fantastic new year! Thanks to our amazing crew and the team @netflix. Beyond grateful for the support – and fun! As ever, Meghan.”

Now, ahead of the series release, British philosopher and writer Kathleen Stock questioned in her new column for The Times: “…has there ever been a person so obviously prone to ruthless control-freakery about every aspect of self-presentation, while purporting to be natural, candid and ‘real’, as Meghan?”

As well as commenting on the show’s prettily “folksy food content” and the fact Meghan had not filmed in her own kitchen, the writer even discussed Prince Harry’s brief appearance at the end of the trailer. Kathleen wrote as thought it looked like Harry popped in for a “well-practised spontaneous-looking cuddle”.

Discussing Meghan’s first post on her new Instagram that came just one day prior to her post about With Love, Meghan, Kathleen added: “Prussian military manoeuvres have looked less planned.” The video showed Meghan running across the beach before writing ‘2025’ in the wet sand.
