Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been warned that ‘history is repeating itself’ as the Queen Mother would be ‘angry’ over their rift with the Royal Family if she were alive
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been issued a strong warning
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been warned “history could repeat itself” amid their feud with the Royal Family.
The pair have become estranged from The Firm in recent years and one expert has suggested the Queen Mother wouldn’t be happy with the way things had turned out, if she were still alive. Harry is set to inherit £7million ($8.9million) from his great-grandmother on his 40th birthday in September.
The Queen Mother had established a trust fund for Harry and his brother Prince William prior to her death in 2002 at the age of 101. However, royal expert Jennie Bond thinks the family matriarch would be displeased with how things have unfolded for the Sussexes.
Bond pointed out how Harry once had a close relationship with his great-grandmother. Speaking to OK! magazine, she said: “The Queen Mother loved her great grandchildren…and they adored her sense of humor.
“She sometimes imitated Ali G, which William and Harry found hilarious. They had taught her how to do the voice and actions and, after lunch one day, she stood up and said to her daughter, the Queen: ‘Darling, lunch was marvelous respec’.”
Bond continued: “But I’m afraid the Queen Mother would have been mightily disappointed to see history repeating itself as Harry fell in love with a divorced American woman and then left royal life and went to live abroad… almost in exile, like her brother in law King Edward VIII, who abdicated for the love of Wallis Simpson.”
Edward VIII abdicated so he could marry Wallis Simpson, who was an American socialite and two-time divorcee. When the late Duke of Windsor stepped down from his royal duties, it caused a rift in the Royal Family.
Bond continued: “I think she would have been angry with Meghan for some of the things that she has said, and profoundly disappointed that Harry has publicly attacked his own family.”
The Duke of Sussex has hit out at the Royal Family in both his Netflix docuseries and his memoir, Spare. In the book, he opened up about an explosive row he had with his brother William, during which the Prince of Wales allegedly called Harry’s wife Meghan “difficult”, “rude” and “abrasive”. Harry claims his brother then “grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor”.
