Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Got a Royal Invitation to Spend Christmas in the U.K.

The news comes after Harry made a secret trip home for a funeral.

Prince Harry and Meghan Could Spend Christmas in the U.K.

While things may be icy between Prince Harry and his brother, Prince William, and his dad King Charles, sources close to the royal noted that Harry’s relationship with his extended family, namely the people on Princess Diana’s side of the family tree, isn’t as fractured or fragile. Things are so good, in fact, that after Harry attended his uncle’s funeral, he and his wife Meghan Markle, have already been asked to return to the U.K.

According to the British publication Express, Harry, Markle, and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, have reportedly received an invitation from Princess Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer. to spend the Christmas holidays across the pond.

“Charles has invited Harry, Meghan, and the children to Althorp this Christmas,” a source shared. “It’s far too early to say whether they will take him up on it, but the offer is there if they want it.”

Of course, Althorp is Princess Diana’s family’s estate and where Harry stayed during his surprise trip for the funeral. The Express added that the Sussexes haven’t gotten any sort of invite to the royal family’s winter celebrations, though it is still too early to jump to conclusions about that. Even if Harry and Markle were invited, insiders explained that they probably wouldn’t accept with all the rumors swirling about the ongoing family feud.

“There hasn’t been an invitation extended to Sandringham just yet, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be one forthcoming,” the source added. “It would be highly unlikely if there was an invitation extended [to Sandringham] and I don’t think they [the Sussexes) would take them up on it anyway.”

After Harry’s unexpected appearance, sources close to the royals saw the Spencer family as a way for Harry to be back in the royal fold and maybe patch things up with his brother and dad.

“Behind the scenes, the Spencers have been working hard to get the brothers to reconcile,” a source told The Daily Beast. “They understand William’s hurt at Harry’s betrayal, but they also understand Harry’s position because of the way Diana was treated by the Windsors.”
