The conversation unfolded as Rhoades and her co-hosts explored Craig’s past relationships, including one with Rhoades’ friend, who appeared as a guest on the show.
However, things took an unexpected turn after Rhoades asked Craig whether he was indeed dating Megan Thee Stallion. She’s a global sensation who is the brain behind such chart-topping hits as Savage and WAP. Apart from being an iconic music genius, Megan has been quite active in many social causes including mental health advocacy and victims’ rights. Rhoades, however, appeared visibly caught off guard by the revelation, as did her guest. Their conversation delved into Craig’s supposed “dating preferences,” with Rhoades’ friend remarking that Craig typically dates women who resemble her, a white woman. This led to speculation and accusations of discomfort surrounding the NBA player’s alleged relationship with a successful Black woman.
“I’m curious what his type is,” one of them said, sparking heated responses online. Critics interpreted the comments as tinged with jealousy and condescension. Adding fuel to the fire, Rhoades’ friend struggled to pronounce “Meg,” which prompted a wave of online criticism. “A White woman who can’t pronounce ‘Meg?’ Girl, bye,” tweeted one user, reflecting the sentiments of Megan’s fiercely loyal fanbase, the “Hotties.”
Social media quickly erupted, with many pointing out that Craig has a known history of dating Black women, including the mother of his child. Critics accused Rhoades and her co-host of being dismissive of Black women and projecting insecurities about Craig’s supposed new relationship.
Megan Thee Stallion and Torrey Craig have not remarked publicly about the podcast and all the rumors started about their relationship. However, Megan’s fans have already made their stand known by rallying behind the rapper with messages of support, praising her for continued success.
Much of the fame pertaining to Rhoades comes from the world of the adult film industry, which automatically means that one is never a stranger to controversy. This latest incident, however, brought to the forefront sensitive dynamics between race, relationships, and public discourse. It’s anyone’s guess whether Megan or Craig responds to this podcast segment; for sure, though, are the “Hotties” who most definitely have the backs of their idol, Megan Thee Stallion, in continuing to dominate this cultural and musical landscape.
