Deadpool & Wolverine tied up next to their Marvel Comics counterparts wearing their X-Force costumes

Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Deadpool & Wolverine

After Deadpool & Wolverine, Logan and Wade Wilson will likely return in Avengers: Secret Wars, but they might belong to a different MCU superhero team than the Avengers. Despite opposing Paradox’s shady plans and accidentally causing Cassandra Nova to get her hands on the Time Ripper, Deadpool and Wolverine saved Earth-10005 from being erased from existence. Given that Earth-10005 is safe and a Wolverine variant has replaced its anchor being by Deadpool & Wolverine‘s ending, Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s new Wolverine variant are expected to return in an upcoming MCU movie soon.

Although Deadpool & Wolverine featured many easter eggs, references, and supporting characters from all over the Marvel multiverse, two characters were notably absent throughout the movie. Zazie Beetz’ Domino and Josh Brolin’s Cable didn’t appear in Deadpool & Wolverine, and Wade Wilson didn’t explain their absence. Even while Deadpool and Wolverine were fighting dozens of Deadpool Corps variants near Wade’s apartment, neither Domino nor Cable — nor Colossus, Shatterstar, Negasonic, or Yukio, for that matter — showed up to help them. However, Domino and Cable can still return in the future, this time alongside Deadpool, Wolverine, and an unexpected ally.

Deadpool And X-23 Might Join Deadpool’s X-Force On Earth-10005

When Deadpool realized he could actually die while destroying Paradox’s timeline-destroying Time Ripper, he understood what heroism and friendship really entailed, giving credit to Happy Hogan’s advice. After defeating Cassandra Nova and Paradox, Wade Wilson now has a new outlook on his superhero duties, and he probably will become a better leader for the superhero team he founded and later abandoned, X-Force. One additional reason why Deadpool may be inspired to bring X-Force back is that the team has two perfect candidates: Wolverine and X-23, who have no other plans following their escape from the Void.

In the comics, Cable recruited the New Mutants for more dangerous missions than they were accustomed to, rebranding them as “X-Force”. Some of the X-Force’s first members included Deadpool 2‘s Rictor and Shatterstar, as well as New Mutants‘ Wolfsbane and Sunspot. Domino then arrived to help Cable as a mentor figure to the X-Force, but the team soon went through drastic line-up changes. Throughout the years, famous X-Men such as Colossus and Wolverine have joined and even led the X-Force, meaning that most of Deadpool’s friends at the end of Deadpool & Wolverine have a comic background with the team.

Deadpool & Wolverine Allows Cable And Domino To Return In The MCU

The fact that Domino and Cable were absent — not even appearing as cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine — seemed worrying at first, as Deadpool’s venture into the Void suggested that Fox’s X-Men universes were doomed. Surprisingly, Deadpool & Wolverine left every universe intact, only killing off several variants of famous characters in the Void. Since Earth-10005 remains unchanged, then Domino and Cable must be safe and ready to join the fight if Deadpool reaches out to them for a new X-Force mission. If Deadpool’s next MCU appearance takes place in Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars, Wade is likely to bring all his superpowered friends along with him.

Deadpool & Wolverine didn’t mention Domino and only acknowledged Cable’s time travel device at the beginning, when Deadpool asked Paradox if his own time-traveling shenanigans had put him in TVA’s crosshairs, which Paradox denied. Deadpool & Wolverine‘s lack of information about Cable and Domino is beneficial for their eventual return, as future MCU projects have complete creative freedom to explain their whereabouts. Apart from their combat skills, Domino’s luck abilities and Cable’s time travel expertise could come in handy not only for the X-Force, but also for the Avengers and the rest of the heroes in Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars.

Deadpool & Wolverine Set Up New Comic-Accurate Wolverine And X-23 Costumes

Wolverine And X-23 May Be Eager To Wear Matching Superhero Costumes

X-23 and Wolverine are available for an X-Force team-up on Earth-10005 and owe Deadpool a favor for getting them out of the Void. Hence, they will likely agree to join Deadpool’s team and join forces with heroes such as Colossus, Cable, and Domino. But for that, X-23 and Wolverine might need the appropriate attire. Deadpool loved the TVA’s work on his own new costume, and he was impressed by Wolverine’s comic-accurate suit. If Deadpool assembles a new X-Force team, he would likely propose the idea of wearing matching suits based on the team’s black-and-gray comic book appearance.

Wolverine and X-23, in particular, are ready for new superhero costumes. It took a trip to the Void and an exesperating adventure alongside Deadpool to feel proud to wear his X-Men costume again. Wolverine proudly wore his comic-accurate costume and mask during Deadpool & Wolverine‘s third act, fighting so brutally that little of his suit survived to see the end credits. X-23 proudly wore the glasses the original Logan bought for her while on the run when she was a child, and now that she has a new Wolverine to look up to, she will likely be happy to wear a similar costume to fight by his side.

Wade Wilson’s wish to prove his worth by becoming a respected member of a superhero team dates back to 2016’s Deadpool, where he constantly alluded to the X-Men. In Deadpool 2, Deadpool visited the X-Mansion in an attempt to convince the X-Men to welcome him into the team, which led the X-Men to hide from him and close their doors in his face. Deadpool created the X-Force afterward, but most of its members died a brutal death before starting their first mission. Before Deadpool & Wolverine‘s main plot kicked off, Deadpool used Cable’s time-travel device to discuss a spot in the Avengers with Happy Hoggan, which Happy rejected.

Deadpool undid the X-Force’s deaths with Cable’s time travel device during Deadpool 2 ‘s post-credits scene.

After Deadpool & Wolverine‘s ending, several people genuinely enjoy Wade Wilson’s company, and he feels confident in his relationships and life goals. What’s more, Deadpool has several superpowered characters eager to support him, including Wolverine and X-23. In a future MCU Deadpool sequel or a crossover event like Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, a full-fledged X-Force team led by Deadpool would embody the culmination of his three-movie character arc and represent a new beginning for him and his friends.
