MCU Teaser Reveals Ryan Reynolds’ Explosive Entry into Deadpool-Wolverine Fray

New footage for Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine is revealed at CinemaCon, previewing 2024’s only Marvel Cinematic Universe movie.

Marvel Studios presents a new look at Deadpool & Wolverine footage as Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson gets ready to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With only a few Marvel movies releasing in 2024, Marvel Studios’ Multiverse Saga will only have one film arriving in theaters this year. However, it may be their biggest one in years, as Deadpool & Wolverine is set to bring the iconic Merc with a Mouth over from the X-Men movie universe along with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.

With this year’s CinemaCon currently taking place in Las Vegas, Disney was one of the major studios that attended the popular Hollywood event. During their presentation, Marvel Studios managed to get some of the spotlight, too, as Screen Rant saw new footage for the Deadpool threequel, giving another taste of the Deadpool & Wolverine story.

Opens on Wade Wilson getting ready for work: “Let’s sell some certified preowned vehicles.” We see him in a minivan with a family, trying to sell the car. The mother asks some questions, and Wade curses a couple times.

“You can always go back to superhero-ing,” Peter says to Wade in the office backroom. Peter still has his suit and wants to go back to the superhero life.

Wade says he’s done with that life, and that he’s fine being done. They then ride their bikes to Wade’s house, where he’s surprised with a birthday party. We see him talk to various people at the party, many from the previous movies. Lots of swearing and typical Deadpool jokes. Negasonic Teenage Warhead makes fun of his hair/toupe.

In response to being told to do cocaine, Wade says, “That’s the one thing Feige said is off limits.” References to other Disney movies, including Frozen. “Do you want to build a snowman?” he’s asked. “Yes!” Wade responds.

Turns out Wade and Vanessa are no longer together. She’s dating someone else at work, but she’s at the party to celebrate his birthday. “It’s been a challenging few years,” Wade says as he gives a speech before blowing out the birthday candles.

Right before he blows out the candles, there’s a knock at the door. It’s the TVA. One of them takes out a baton and Wade says, “Whoa, whoa, whoa. Pegging ain’t new for me, but it is for Disney.” He’s then knocked out and later wakes up inside the TVA.

Mr. Paradox is sitting across from Wade and explains what the TVA is — including protecting the Sacred Timeline. Paradox says Wade is special and he’s been chosen for a higher purpose. He could possibly save the Sacred Timeline, potentially protecting it from something because it might need to be “avenged.” Lots of references to Marvel and Cinematic and Universe. We see the Avengers on the screen.

The TVA has been monitoring Wade for a while, though they didn’t capture him for his timeline shenanigans from Deadpool 2. The TVA is giving him the opportunity to join the “greatest universe,” to which Wade says he’s, “Marvel Jesus.”

Wade steps away, grabs a mic, and says, “Suck it Fox! I’m going to Disneyland.” Wade tells Paradox there’s one thing he’s going to need — we then see him get ready in his Deadpool suit (same scene from the trailer). He now has adamantium katanas, which he thanks Paradox for. One new scene in the footage is Deadpool and Wolverine driving in a car together. Deadpool makes fun of Wolverine’s costume, calling out that he looks like the LA Rams.

Another Deadpool & Wolverine clip that was showcased, specifically made for the CinemaCon audience (via Comic Book) featured Wade and Logan walking through a tunnel, with Reynolds saying “So, I heard Secret Wars is finally gonna introduce…” before a phone is heard ringing. As Wolverine pushes Deadpool away, he looks into the camera, saying, “Hey, bub! You’re in a movie theater, turn off you’re f-cking phone!” Wade eventually gets back into the frame, jokingly saying that his private parts vibrate when he hears Wolverine talk like that while adding, “Nice fourth wall break, didn’t think you had it in ya!”

Everything The Deadpool & Wolverine Footage Reveals About The MCU Movie

The Footage May Have Revealed How Deadpool Joins The MCU

The Deadpool & Wolverine footage makes it abundantly clear that they are not going to hold back on the jokes when it comes to Marvel head Kevin Feige, Disney, Marvel Studios, or the messy journey that the X-Men movies have been through, causing an incredibly confusing timeline. From Deadpool literally saying goodbye to the Fox era to acknowledging the one restriction by Feige, it highlights some of the fun meta-commentaries that Deadpool & Wolverine will have in store for the audience. The more that the TVA gets involved, the clearer it becomes that they will be the tool for Deadpool to join the MCU.

Since Deadpool is being picked to protect the Sacred Timeline, Deadpool & Wolverine is clearly setting him up to be a crucial player for the rest of The Multiverse Saga. The bigger mystery, however, is how Wolverine factors into the Phase 5 adventure, since it’s still not known despite Jackman’s character being highlighted more in the footage compared to the first Deadpool & Wolverine trailer. Based on the latest Deadpool & Wolverine footage, Marvel Studios clearly wants to continue to keep the big bad a major mystery.

Even though The Multiverse Saga has had its many ups and downs, Deadpool & Wolverine sounds like it will be a step in the right direction for the MCU’s ongoing arc. Given how secretive they have been about the film, there is still a lot to look forward to with Deadpool & Wolverine. With only three months left to go before Deadpool & Wolverine arrives in theaters, Marvel Studios will likely have another trailer ready to go in the near future.
