MCU Star Heavily Rumored to be in Next Avengers Team Defends Jennifer Lopez after Disrespectful Ben Affleck Divorce Question: “Don’t come in here with that energy”

The MCU is ever-expanding and adding more stars to its already heavy list of actors. Simu Liu, who recently starred alongside Jennifer Lopez in the 2024 film Atlas, has been heavily rumored to be in the next Avengers film (and rightfully so).

Iconic actress Jennifer Lopez, who was once briefly engaged to Ben Affleck back in 2004, married the actor in a private ceremony in 2022, and they have been living happily. Simu Liu and Lopez were quick to shut up the interviewer with respect to the rumors that the actress was divorcing Affleck.

MCU Star Simu Liu Doesn’t Want That Energy Around Him

Atlas is an upcoming Netflix film starring Simu Liu and Jennifer Lopez which is on the verge of release. Depicting the story of AI and a robot gone rogue, the concept is quite interesting. Regardless, Liu and Lopez were spotted at the premiere of the film recently.

While promoting, Simu Liu and Jennifer Lopez were asked some questions from various interviewers when one question crossed the limit for the duo. A reporter asked Lopez if there was any truth to the rumors claiming that she is divorcing Ben Affleck.

Quickly dismissing them, Lopez stated that he [the reporter] knows better than that. However, Simu Liu stepped up and addressed the reporter. As per a tweet by Variety on X, the actor asked the interviewer not to bring that energy there.

We’re not doing that. Come on, don’t come in here with that energy.

Being a chivalrous actor, fans greatly appreciated Simu Liu’s statements and his actions to defend Jennifer Lopez. Being an integral character in the MCU, there have been several rumors about Shang-Chi appearing in future Avenger films.

To clarify these rumors, people asked Liu himself about what Shang-Chi’s future would be like in the MCU. Answering honestly to the question, it seems that Marvel Studios is cooking something big and Shang-Chi is the special ingredient!

Shang-Chi And The Legend of the Ten Films

That name is to be taken metaphorically. There is no confirmed evidence that the character of Shang-Chi will appear in 10 MCU films. It could be a possibility but not a guarantee. With the death of Iron Man in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, fans turned their eyes towards Shang-Chi to be the next team leader of the superheroes.

Being a powerful character, Shang-Chi does seem like a good team leader for the upcoming Avengers films. However, Liu claims that he is not privy to that information. In an interview with ComicBook.com, the actor revealed that he only gets a call at the last moment.

Stating that they only tell him that his character is going to appear here and do this, the Barbie star claimed innocence about knowing the future of the MCU!

I don’t know to be honest. I mean, those things are so above my pay grade. I just wanna continue to be a fan of it. You know, when I get a call of like, ‘Hey, this is what you’re in and this is where you’re going to show up. And, this is when you’re going to be need to be blacked out for.’

He further ended his statements by saying, That’s kind of generally what tends to happen.

However, fans know how good the MCU is at keeping secrets. Just look at Spider-Man: No Way Home. Although people had heard rumors and had partially cracked the idea of all three Spider-Men appearing together, it was still a nice and nostalgic surprise.

On the other hand, the rumors regarding Simu Liu’s appearance in the MCU cannot be confirmed nor denied at the moment. Starring alongside Jennifer Lopez, Atlas is set to premiere on 24 May on Netflix across the world.
