Doctor Strange actor Benedict Wong chimes in on the rumors about his character coming back for Avengers: Secret Wars as his next Marvel Cinematic Universe appearance. As The Multiverse Saga continues to get fleshed out, Marvel Studios is building towards Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars, which will seemingly change the MCU forever. With the Phase 5 finishing off its remaining projects in 2025, time will tell how packed Phase 6 will be across film and TV for the MCU.

In a new interview with Men’s Health, the outlet brought up Wong being listed as his Sorcerer Supreme in the Avengers: Secret Wars cast on IMDb and asked the actor if there was any truth to it. While Wong never flat out confirms it, the MCU veteran also doesn’t deny it either, as he gave the following responses:

Men’s Health: When might we see Wong again? I know it’s not the most reliable source, but IMDb has you on the cast list for Avengers: Secret Wars.

Benedict Wong: I saw that! I thought, Oh, is that what I’m doing? Thanks for telling me, IMDb. Why am I the last person to know? But I loved the Secret Wars comics. I collected them all.

Men’s Health: But do you know if you’re definitely returning?

Benedict Wong: I’d like to think that IMDb doesn’t lie, you know?

Every Wong Appearance In The MCU So Far

Since his MCU debut in 2016’s Doctor Strange, Wong has become one of the prominent characters in the franchise when it comes to its representation of magical players. Despite Doctor Strange being at the center of it, Wong still holds the title of the Sorcerer Supreme due to the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Wong has also had smaller roles, from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings to Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was one of Wong’s more recent crucial appearances, as he aided Stephen Strange in trying to stop the Scarlet Witch during her rampage. The last time the MCU audience saw Wong was in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, where he guest starred in three episodes. Whether or not the actor is getting ready to film anything this year remains to be seen, but even if he did, it would likely be kept under wraps.

Time will tell if Wong ends up being back for Avengers: Secret Wars, but if Avengers. Endgame is to be used as an example, it wouldn’t be shocking if he were back for the massive team-up movie. However, Wong will most likely be in other MCU movies and TV shows before Avengers: Secret Wars, even if it’s just a cameo. But for now, the world will have to wait and see when they get actual updates on Avengers: Secret Wars, as the film has yet to tap a director.
