The Alpha Test is just a glimpse of what’s to come in Marvel Rivals.
Marvel Rivals, the upcoming team-based shooter from NetEase Games, developed in collaboration with Marvel Games, was announced back in March this year, and fans have been excited about it. The game will be free to play and feature popular characters from Marvel Comics.
There is no official release date yet, but the game is gearing up for its closed alpha test, which will take place in the next couple of days. The developers have now announced what the closed alpha will entail, and it is offering several new maps and mopes and an amazing lineup of characters.
Marvel Rivals Closed Alpha Will Offer Exciting Content to Players
Marvel Rivals alpha test begins on May 10 for PC players
The closed alpha of Marvel Rivals is set to begin on May 10, 2024, at 05:00 PM (PDT) and will continue till May 20, 2024, at 11:59 PM (PDT). The competitive mode will be available on May 11 from 5:00 PM (PDT) to 12:00 AM (PDT) and will be accessible till the end of the closed alpha. As per the FAQ page of the game, this is to ensure “optimal matchmaking.”
The Alpha test for the 6v6 team shooter will see 30,000 players from all over the world play the game, and the developer has announced the content that will be available during the test. The Alpha test will feature three game modes, Convoy, Domination, and Convergence, for players to battle in.
There will also be three maps, namely Yggsgard: Yggdrasill Path, Yggsgard: Royal Palace, and Tokyo 2099: Shin-Shibuya. Marvel Rivals will be offering a large number of characters, 19 to be specific, from the Marvel comics for players to choose from and fight with against other players.
The Marvel characters include Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Hela, Hulk, Groot, Iron Man, Luna Snow, Loki, Magik, Mantis, Namor, Magneto, Peni Parker, Rocket Raccoon, Star-Lord, Storm, Punisher, Scarlet Witch, and your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
Marvel Rivals Will Have More Exciting Content at Full Launch
The alpha test will feature 19 Marvel characters
NetEase Games has also said that the content in the Marvel Rivals alpha test is a “small sample” of the full scope of the game, and there is more content that will be available at the full launch. Given how 19 characters are coming to the alpha test, including both popular ones as well as some lesser-known characters that comic book fans will love to see, more will be coming with the full launch.
There have also been speculations that characters like Thor, Doctor Doom, and even Moon Knight will be added to the game. Players also spotted a character in the trailer for the Tokyo 2099: Shin-Shibuya map that seemed like the Spider-Man antagonist Scorpion. The characters will have several abilities that players can use in the match against their opponents.
The strong lineup of characters and amazing maps and modes seem like Marvel Rivals may make its place in the best shooter titles, and as the alpha test content itself is chunky, there may be much more than players anticipate in the full launch and later seasons of the game.
