Sam Wilson in Captain America Brave New World with Tiamut's hand in Eternals

One of the biggest mysteries in the MCU will finally be addressed in Marvel Studios’ upcoming Captain America: Brave New World, as the Celestial Tiamut is set to make its return. There are currently many unanswered mysteries and loose ends in the MCU, but as the franchise moves closer to Phase 6 and the conclusion of the Multiverse Saga, these questions will begin to be answered. The first teaser trailer for Captain America: Brave New World has confirmed that one major burning question will finally be answered.

Marvel Studios’ Eternals ended with the titular team using their Uni-Mind to kill the Celestial Tiamut, stopping its emergence from destroying Earth and eradicating humanity. This left an enormous marble-like statue of Tiamut rising from the ocean, that has only been mentioned once in the last three years – in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Thankfully, Captain America: Brave New World will explain more about the Celestial Tiamut’s existence in the MCU.

Although it appears only briefly, and could be easily missed, the hand of the Celestial Tiamut appears a couple of times in the new trailer for Captain America: Brave New World. First, missiles can be seen being fired at Tiamut from what is presumably a war ship, suggesting the United States government, now under the control of President Thaddeus Ross, may have plans for whatever material Tiamut is now made of. Later, Sam Wilson can be seen flying past Tiamut, sporting his updated blue Captain America costume.

How The Celestial Fits Into Captain America: Brave New World’s Story

It’s still unclear exactly what purpose the Celestial Tiamut will have in Captain America: Brave New World. However, following some wild fan theories, and with a bit of deduction, it could be assumed that Brave New World will continue themes from previous MCU projects. Most notably, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever introdued the idea of a resource race between the governments of the world, as many wanted to get their hands on Wakanda’s vibranium. If this turns out to be impossible, their sights may turn to Tiamut.

Popular theories have suggested that the Eternal Sersi may have transformed Tiamut into adamantium, which could introduce this valuable and coveted metal-like material to the MCU for the first time following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, who previously owned the rights to adamantium. This metal is famously the material bonded to Wolverine’s skeleton, so Captain America: Brave New World could sew the seeds for the MCU’s X-Men debut. It seems Captain America: Brave New World will feature an epic battle over Tiamut’s resources, which is a very exciting prospect for the MCU.
