‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ trailer hints potential Robert Downey Jr.’s return as Iron Man.
The Deadpool & Wolverine trailer has extended the hype even further for the movie. The Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman-starrer movie has been one of the most anticipated movies of 2024, and the easter eggs have just fuelled the suspense to a stupendous degree.

With the release of the trailer of the movie, we noticed several notable hints, and one of them reflected Iron Man played by Robert Downey Jr. Immediately, the question came to mind for many fans, speculating a possible cameo of the Avenger in the movie.
Is Robert Downey Jr. Coming Back To MCU?
Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man was one of the pioneers of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There will be far too little debate about that. The actor with his character has established the universe and taken it to glory and fame— now, Marvel Studios is one of the two leading superhero brands. After his long tenure, Iron Man star Downey Jr. seemingly retire from his Marvel role following the heroic death of his character in Avengers: Endgame.
Now, among several easter eggs including Liefeld’s Just Feet, Lady Deathstrike and Azazel at Cassandra Nova’s base (made with Ant-Man skull), Doctor Strange’s Portal, and the same car Tony Stark was working on in the 2008 Iron Man movie. The car has an Iron Man hood ornament. While the Easter eggs have been pretty peculiar, Downey Jr.’s return is hazy in the Ryan Reynolds movie. Still, it would be unwise to totally rule out the wide speculation.
Robert Downey Jr. Is Open For His MCU Return
Iron Man in Avengers: Endgame
Downey Jr. was born to play Iron Man, and now it’s almost impossible to imagine any other star in the Iron Man suit. Of course, beyond the shadow of MCU, the actor has claimed immediate success starring in Christopher Nolan’s 2023 blockbuster Oppenheimer, for which he won an Oscar for his role.
Still, if he gets a call from Marvel Studios, the actor said he would be open for his return. “Happily. It’s too integral a part of my DNA. That role [Iron Man] chose me,” Downey Jr. told Esquire, commenting on Marvel Boss, Kevin Feige.
“And look, I always say, Never, ever bet against Kevin Feige. It is a losing bet. He’s the house. He will always win.”
The interview could be an Easter egg itself. If Feige wants Iron Man in the movie, Stark would be in Deadpool & Wolverine, which highlights the speculation even further alongside the hint in the trailer.
Deadpool & Wolverine is scheduled for 26 July 2024 release.
