Madison Bailey is setting the record straight. The Outer Banks star popped into the comments section of her latest TikTok video to address online chatter that she posted a cover of Billie Eilish’s “L’AMOUR DE MA VIE” with a subtle message to Rudy Pankow.
In the clip, which the actress posted on December 13, Madison, 25, sang part of the first verse and chorus of the Billie, 22, track. Fans pointed out that she changed her facial expression when she sang, “You said you’d never fall in love again because of me, then you moved on immediately.”
The comments section was flooded with messages about the “smirk” on Madison’s face during that particular lyric, with fans speculating that it was a message to Rudy, 26, and his relationship with now-girlfriend Elaine Siemek. While Madison has previously denied that she and Rudy were ever romantically involved behind-the-scenes of Outer Banks, there has been widespread (unproven) fan speculation that something went on between the two, leading to accusations that they’ve now seemingly become distant because of Elaine, 29, and Madison’s girlfriend, Mariah Linney.
Madison directly addressed the comments about her song choice and facial expression in the video. “I made a face cause the song is funny,” she wrote. “I recorded this in August. Hope this helps.”
Over 100 fans responded to Madison’s comment, with many applauding her for how she “ate” with the clap back. However, others still weren’t convinced. “SUREEE,WE GOT IT QUEEN,” one commenter wrote, sarcastically. Others couldn’t get over the fact that Madison was aware of all that was being said online about her. “Omg she reads the comments,” one person wrote, while another said, “SHE KNOWSSS [crying emoji],” and a third wrote, “HELP SHE IS SO DONE WITH YOU GUYS.”
When season 4 of Outer Banks came out in October and November, fans flooded social media with comments about how Madison and Rudy’s chemistry seemed off. When Rudy’s character was killed in the finale, fans wondered if offscreen drama between the cast members is what led to the beloved JJ Maybank being written off the show. Although the Netflix series’ cocreators have insisted that it was always in the plans to kill off JJ, the speculation continued in the months that followed after none of the other cast members posted goodbye messages to Rudy on social media.
“This cast is so off-no goodbye post for Rudy and appreciation for him and we are expected to think NOTHING happened,” one person wrote on X. “Like ik damn well stuff occurred on that set and Madison starting to ‘deny’ stuff isn’t gonna make me believe.
The Rumored ‘Outer Banks’ Rudy Pankow and Madison Bailey Drama Explained
Rudy posted about his departure ahead of the show’s fifth and final season. “Being grateful doesn’t begin to explain it,” he wrote. “Honestly words in general explaining 5 years of memories, blood, sweat and passion with this special cast, crew, writers, producers, artists aren’t possible. So for now, giving a huge THANK YOU, thank you to all them and to YOU for the treasure hunt of a lifetime. And lastly to my pal JJ Maybank, thank you. I’ll love you forever.”
