Leighton Meester and Miles Fowler are joining the cast of Nobody Wants This when the show returns for Season 2 on Netflix.
Meester will share credits with her real-life husband, Adam Brody. The Gossip Girl alum will play Abby, who the streamer describes as Joanne’s (Bell) “middle school nemesis” who cross paths now as adults.
Fowler is set to guest star as Noah’s (Brody) basketball teammate, who gets set up with Joanne’s sister Morgan, played by Justine Lupe.
Created by Erin Foster, Nobody Wants This follows an agnostic podcast host and an unconventional rabbi on the rebound walk into a party. When they walk out — together — the unlikely pair, Joanne (Bell) and Noah (Brody), can tell there is something between them. But also potentially between them, with their differing outlooks on life, all of the modern obstacles to love, and their sometimes well-meaning, sometimes sabotaging families — including her sister Morgan (Justine Lupe) and brother Sasha (Timothy Simons).
The series also features Stephanie Faracy, Tovah Feldshuh, Paul Ben-Victor, Jackie Tohn, Emily Arlook, Sherry Cola, Shilo Bearman, and Stephen Tobolowsky.
Meester joining the Netflix series will hit millennials with nostalgia as in an alternative world, Gossip Girl’s Blair Waldorf and The O.C.’s Seth Cohen (played by Brody) ended up together in real life. Josh Schwartz created both shows, and both characters have remained fan favorites. Meester’s latest TV roles include guest appearances on The Buccaneers and Good Cop/Bad Cop and recurring roles in How I Met Your Father and The Orville.
Fowler has credits in shows like The Resident and Women of the Movement and the movie Bottoms alongside Ayo Edebiri.
Nobody Wants This premiered in September 2024 and quickly topped Netflix’s list of the most-watched English-language shows, with 15.9M views in its first full week. The series received a Season 2 renewal shortly after, with the streamer confirming Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan would serve as showrunners. They are joined by Nora Silver, President at Jenni Konner Productions, who will executive produce alongside the duo and returning executive producers Erin Foster, Sara Foster, Bell, Steven Levitan, Oly Obst, Danielle Stokdyk, and Jeff Morton. 20th Television is the studio.
