King Charles in discussions to visit Prince Harry for first time in years – as reason behind trip revealed

Prince Harry rejected King Charles' offer to stay in royal residence during UK trip

King Charles is reportedly considering a trip across the pond to visit Prince Harry and his family in America, amidst rumours that Prince William and Queen Camilla are not entirely on board with the idea.

According to royal expert Tom Quinn, Charles is keen to be a “friendly grandfather” to Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet but would have to do so in Montecito, where the Sussexes are based. According to New Idea, there is a gap in the King’s schedule next month, where a possible visit could take place.

The magazine also indicates that Harry might be “hesitant” to bring his young ones back to the UK. Quinn previously mentioned that Meghan Markle is unlikely to set foot on British soil again, reports the Mirror.

Quinn has now revealed that “discussions” are afoot about a “private visit” by the King to the US. He said: “He is desperate to see his them and hates the idea that Archie and Lilibet will not remember him as the warm, friendly grandfather he wants to be.”

A source from New Idea also notes that the King’s health seems to be improving following his cancer diagnosis, which could pave the way for a family “showdown” aimed at resolving ongoing tensions. They stated: “This feud has gone on for far too long, and Charles is anxious to sort it out – but he knows it has to be on Harry and Meghan’s home turf, particularly if he wants to see his grandchildren.”

The publication has suggested that Harry would be “open” to his father visiting him in Montecito. However, Queen Camilla and William may not be too keen on the idea, with concerns over the King’s health after his recent New Zealand tour was cut back due to his diagnosis.

William is reported as being baffled by his father’s wish to see Harry, according to a source for New Idea: “William can’t understand why Charles would go out on a limb like this. Camilla is against the trip for health reasons. The Australia tour in October is going to be a lot for a man of his age with cancer, let alone an emotional transatlantic journey to visit his estranged son.”

OK! has reportedly reached out to Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace for a comment.
