In the ever-expanding universe of MCU, Feige’s gushing about Deadpool & Wolverine’s R-rated glory is a sharp turn from the tepid response to The Marvels. Is this the unhinged fun fans were hungry for? The Marvels feels…well, safe. Maybe a dash of Deadpool’s mayhem could’ve given it a kick?

Forget girl power anthems. Kevin Feige is showering praise on a new arrival in the MCU, and it’s not what fans used to expect from the squeaky-clean superhero giant.

In an interview with the Official Marvel Podcast, Feige gushed about the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine, “Just as gory… just as foul-mouthed… just as R-rated!” This is a stark contrast to Brie Larson’s The Marvels, the MCU’s first official flop.

But Deadpool & Wolverine promises to be a wild ride. Feige himself called it “many dreams coming true at once.” Imagine the snarky one-liners bouncing off Wolverine’s gruff pronouncements!

Apparently, Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds’ real-life camaraderie translates perfectly to the screen. Feige even teased connections to “a few more” MCU titles beyond the already confirmed involvement of the TVA (remember those wacky time-cops from Loki?)

This multiversal mashup isn’t just about nostalgia, though. Feige hints at “a peek into the future” of the MCU, where established characters get exciting new life. And hey, who doesn’t love a good R-rated romp after a string of safe superhero flicks?

Feige promises “extremely endearing and emotional” moments, along with the usual gore and adult humor. Deadpool & Wolverine claws its way into theaters this July. But if you crave a more classic superhero adventure—MCU’s Fantastic Four is about to take a trip back in time.

Marvel’s Fantastic Four movie will start filming in July—and it’ll be a period piece, Kevin Feige confirms

The MCU’s upcoming Fantastic Four movie is blasting off to the past! Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige confirmed the film’s period setting during the first episode of the Official Marvel Podcast. “[The Fantastic Four] is a period piece,” Feige revealed, finally putting to rest fan theories swirling since the first poster dropped in February.

Sharp-eyed Marvel faithful pointed out that the NYC cityscape in the poster didn’t particularly look like New York. Another piece of art released in April added fire to the rumors by evoking a more distant past. Feige remarked, laughing, “Those are smart observations, I’ll say,” appreciating Marvelites’ research.

The much-awaited superhero movie begins filming on July 29th, immediately following the conclusion of San Diego Comic-Con 2024. So, how long should we anticipate? Feige isn’t saying much about it just yet, but one thing’s certain: this Fantastic Four adventure promises a novel take on a well-known story.
