Mysteries surrounding “Teen’s” identity and the strange sigil cast upon him in Agatha All Along are explained with a dark twist in a shocking new MCU theory. Heartstopper star Joe Locke debuted as “Teen” in Agatha All Along, but the true identity of his character is yet to be revealed, as his name and any significant personal information about him have been hidden behind a magical sigil. While this has censored his identity in real time, there have been many theories and a great deal of speculation about who “Teen” could be.
The most popular theory points to Joe Locke portraying the MCU’s Billy Kaplan, the reincarnated version of Billy Maximoff, a.k.a. Wiccan, one of the sons of the Scarlet Witch. Julian Hilliard played a ten-year-old Wiccan in WandaVision, so, as the series’ first spinoff, it would make sense for Agatha All Along to debut Billy Kaplan in the MCU. However, with no official confirmation, Joe Locke’s “Teen” could be revealed to be someone completely different, and a dark new theory may have found a fantastic alternative.
Teen Is Using The Sigil To Manipulate Agatha Harkness: Agatha All Along Theory Explained
Teen May Know Exactly How To Pull Agatha Harkness’ Strings
While the witches in Agatha Harkness’ coven seem to assume that someone else placed the sigil on Joe Locke’s “Teen”, deliberately hiding his identity with “clumsy glamor,” this may not actually be the case. A new theory posed by Reddit user Individual_Signal261 suggests that “Teen” may have placed the sigil on himself. This would have been a surefire way to pique Agatha Harkness’ interest after he found himself kidnapped by the original Salem witch, and without it, Agatha perhaps wouldn’t have taken “Teen” to the fabled Witches’ Road.
The theory notes that “Teen” may be using the sigil in order to manipulate Agatha Harkness into keeping him around and offering him protection. By hiding his identity, “Teen” has given Agatha the belief that he could, in fact, be her son, Nicholas Scratch. Agatha All Along’s first few episodes have put a lot of emphasis on the loss of Scratch, and it seems that he may have disappeared under rather high-profile circumstances. It’s possible “Teen” may have known about Scratch’s disappearance prior to meeting Agatha Harkness, and knew to use this to his advantage.
Teen Knew A Lot About Agatha Harkness & The Other Witches
Teens Know “An Egregious Amount” About Agatha Harkness
When Agatha Harkness kidnapped “Teen” in Agatha All Along episode 1, “Seekest Thou the Road,” Joe Locke’s mysterious character soon revealed himself to be far from a magical novice. He was exactly where he wanted to be in Agatha’s home, stating that he was a huge fan of hers, knowing “an egregious amount” about her. This supports the idea that he’d know about Nicholas Scratch, and the use of the word “egregious” carries negative connotations, underlining the theory that he has been manipulating the witch.
It’s not just Agatha Harkness that “Teen” knows about, however. Throughout Agatha All Along episode 2, “Circle Sewn with Fate/Unlock Thy Hidden Gate,” “Teen” expressed deep knowledge about the other witches in Agatha All Along’s cast, including Jennifer Kale’s legal troubles, Alice Wu-Gulliver’s family, specifically her mother, Lorna Wu, and all manner of other witchcraft-related topics. Even so, “Teen” plays dumb on several occasions, asking questions about basic things and acting clueless and timid in certain situations, which may be textbook signs of manipulation.
Teen May Want To Use Agatha Harkness To Survive The Witches’ Road
It’s Unlikely A Witch Would Survive The Witches’ Road Without A Coven
The idea of Joe Locke’s “Teen” actively trying to manipulate Agatha Harkness would be a fun addition to Agatha All Along’s narrative, and the new theory even provides a brilliant explanation as to why. The theory plays on the popular suggestion that Joe Locke may be playing Billy Kaplan, the reincarnated son of Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff. If this is the case, “Teen” would certainly have a vendetta against Agatha Harkness, given her kidnapping of Billy and Tommy Maximoff and attempt to steal the Scarlet Witch’s power in WandaVision.
Billy Kaplan may remember this portion of his previous life, so he could be using his disguise to get close to Agatha Harkness, even making her believe that he could be Agatha’s own son, Nicholas Scratch. He may be using her simply to get to the end of the Witches’ Road, where he may ask for his mother, Wanda Maximoff, to be resurrected, as she sacrificed herself in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. This would mark a huge betrayal for Agatha Harkness, but would also see her experience the consequences of her own actions.
Agatha All Along Episode 3 Makes Teen’s Manipulation Even Worse
Agatha All Along Episode 3 Reveals More About Agatha Harkness’ Son
Agatha All Along’s first two episodes teased the existence and disappearance of Nicholas Scratch, Agatha Harkness’ son, but Agatha All Along episode 3, “Through Many Miles of Tricks and Trials,” seemed to confirm exactly what happened to him. Jennifer Kale reveals to “Teen” that it’s rumored that Agatha Harkness traded her son for the Darkhold, the MCU’s Book of the Damned. Something as controversial and immoral as this would have become widespread gossip in the witch community, so must have come up in “Teen’s” research on Agatha.
In Marvel Comics, Nicholas Scratch was Agatha Harkness’ son and the father of the Salem Seven, he waged war on his mother after she left the magical community of New Salem, Colorado, to become a nanny for the Fantastic Four.
This would explain exactly how “Teen” knows to use Nicholas Scratch against Agatha Harkness. Agatha All Along episode 3 confirms that Agatha may believe “Teen” is Scratch, as she vehemently refuses him to drink the poisoned wine in the house on the Witches’ Road. It’s rare that Agatha Harkness cares about anyone other than herself, so she must think “Teen” is someone very special to put herself before him. Of course, the theory suggests “Teen” seeks revenge on Agatha Harkness, which could create an interesting dynamic in the series’ upcoming episodes.
New episodes of Agatha All Along release every Wednesday at 6pm PT/9pm ET on Disney+.
