Given that her portfolio has covered quite different projects so far, she recently expressed her opinions that she feels herself to be well suited to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Kate Hudson Commented on the Possibility of Joining the MCU

It’s been ages since the Marvel Cinematic Universe became one of the most popular superhero franchises worldwide. Kicking off the universe with Iron Man, many comic heroes joined the journey like Captain America, Spider-Man, Hulk, Black Widow, etc.

After the franchise witnessed its ultimate war in 2019 with Avengers: Endgame, it continued to move forward, bringing new characters along the way.

As the studio develops new stories to be told, many are interested in getting involved with the franchise, including Kate Hudson. Talking to Comicbook.com, she commented on the possibility of associating herself with the superhero franchise with the actress feeling that she’s well-suited for the job.

She shared, “I think if it was the right thing, I would love it. I actually think that I’m really well-suited for the Marvel world.”

While she’s open to joining the franchise, she made a particular demand for the same.

“But it would have to be the right kind of lady. I think that I could be a really good spunky superhero or supervillain. I don’t know what it would be. But yeah, I’d be down if it was the right thing, I’d be very down.”

It would be exciting to have such a talented actress in the franchise, but many would be surprised to know that she already shares a close connection with the franchise thanks to the offer she’d received in the past.

Kate Hudson Was Offered to Play a Key Role in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man Trilogy

Kirsten Dunst Mary Jane

Kate Hudson refused Kirsten Dunst’s Mary Jane role in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy

Long before when the MCU franchise was in the making, Sam Raimi was attached to work on Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man movies. It was when the studio was looking for actors who could play the major roles. In the case of Hudson, she was offered to play the role of Tobey Maguire’s character, Peter Parker/Spider-Man’s love interest, Mary Jane Watson.

While actresses like Kate Bosworth (via PEOPLE), Elizabeth Banks (Vanity Fair), Eliza Dushku (via Notstarring.com), Mena Suvari, and Jaime King (via IGN) also auditioned for the female lead role, Kirsten Dunst eventually nabbed the role. Dunst was invested in the project, partly due to the director and lead actor along with the script. She shared in a Reuters interview,

“Honestly, from the first moment I read it, I thought it was so moving and so emotional. The fact that Sam Raimi was directing and had chosen Tobey Maguire, who had done 2000’s ‘Wonder Boys’ and 1999’s ‘The Cider House Rules,’ made it, to me, like an independent film. I auditioned and was so happy I got it.”

Raimi directed three Spider-Man movies, breaking numerous global box office records. Surging past over $822 million, the first movie led to two other installments and successfully established a strong fan base for the superhero character.
