“I would love to go back”: Avengers: Infinity War Star Wants to Return After Her Heartbreaking Death in MCU But Remains Clueless About Kevin Feige’s Grand Plan

Avengers: Infinity War star is open to returning to the MCU, even though she remains unsure of Kevin Feige’s plans for the Marvel franchise.

The MCU is home to innumerable characters, from superheroes to other, more ordinary individuals without any superpowers. A significant part of its grand appeal, thus, lies in the wide variety of these fascinating characters beyond just heroes and villains. Even the most ‘human’ and ‘normal’ figures in the MCU have their own unique charm, with one such character being Cobie Smulders’ Agent Maria Hill.

A fan-favorite character, the Avengers: Infinity War star sadly said goodbye to the character in MCU’s Secret Invasion series. Since we know nobody really stays dead in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Smulders recently revealed she would love to come back even though she knows nothing about Kevin Feige’s grand plan for the MCU.

Cobie Smulders Wants to Come Back to the MCU

From her first appearance in 2012’s The Avengers to her last appearance in 2023’s Secret Invasion, Cobie Smulders‘ Maria Hill has come to be adored by fans for her courage and determination in the MCU. Even though devoid of any superpower, the character has always been ready to fight and fans were anticipating some grand feats from her when she made an appearance in last year’s Marvel disappointment, Secret Invasion.

However, the character was killed off at the end of the first episode. A harrowing and unfortunate event, fans believe her death wasn’t even made use of the proper way in the series, leading to a widespread belief that Maria Hill died in vain. But, with it being the MCU, fans still want the agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. to come back sooner or later in the grand superhero verse.

Even actress Cobie Smulders is open to returning, as she recently exclaimed, even though she knows nothing about the direction the MCU is heading towards.

I would love to go back, but I have no idea what they have in store for the future of Marvel or my character at this point.

Stated the actress about her potential return to the MCU (via X). Even last year, while discussing her character’s death with Variety, the actress explained that anything is possible given Marvel’s multiversal world. As her recent comments went viral, fans from all over the world exclaimed on social media that Marvel did her dirty by killing a character with so much potential.

Marvel Fans Are Still Not Over Maria Hill’s Death in Secret Invasion

Cobie Smulders’ Maria Hill lost her life in MCU’s Secret Invasion, right at the end of the first episode. Although her death was to add an extra element of emotionality to the tale, Marvel failed to utilize her tragic end in the subsequent episodes of the series. Killed off just to show how big of a threat the Skrulls posed in the series, Hill’s death is one of MCU’s worst mistakes as per fans.

A fan-favorite character with so much potential, over the years fans have been desperate to see more of the character and explore her backstory. Instead, Marvel disappointed them all when the character was killed off to further the plot. As a result, the Marvel fandom is still not over death. After Smulders showed interest in coming back to the MCU, this is how they reacted:

Referring to her death as one of the worst decisions Marvel has ever made, it is clear that even fans want to see more of the character in the MCU. While there are several ways the character can be brought back, we hope Kevin Feige pays attention to what the fans want as he goes on to develop the next chapter of the superhero verse.

Meanwhile, Secret Invasion can be streamed on Disney+.
