“I don’t think Holland even throws a punch in his movie”: Extended Fight With Doc Oc Exposes a Big Difference Between Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man
Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is up for questioning against Tobey Maguire’s version, however, this time he has quite a case to make for himself.
For years now, fans of Spider-Man have been everlastingly debating over who is the best version of the character. Those who were around when Tobey Maguire’s films came out swear by him. He was the first, and he was the most iconic, therefore, he deserves the title. At the same time, some turn to Andrew Garfield, calling out to his acting as the character and the life he brought to the screen.

Unfortunately, in the debate between these two critically acclaimed and seasoned actors, Tom Holland’s name ends up lost in the dust. He is the newest, and his take is so much more different than what fans are used to. While some appreciate the breath of fresh air, others would rather be traditionalists when it comes to Peter Parker.
A clip of the extended cut of Maguire’s Spider-Man 2 showcases exactly what concerns fans had with Holland’s character and how they were all fixed away in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Many years before the release of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man saga, a fan posted a clip from Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man 2 that started quite an interesting conversation among fans. The clip showcased an extended version of Peter Parker’s bank fight with Doc Ock. Although the video contained quite a few unseen moments, there was one particular part that caught the attention of several fans.

At one point in the sequence, fans saw the two characters break through a window, where Maguire’s character immediately started throwing punches. Using his fists and brute force rather than wit and webs, fans saw a different side to Parker’s character when provoked. While some were simply appreciating the scene, others brought up different concerns.
Many fans were interested in talking about the difference between Maguire’s version and Tom Holland’s version. Since the conversation happened before the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, many fans were talking about how they disliked certain aspects of Holland’s character. They stated that he was quite soft in his combat compared to the rest of the versions.

This was an aspect that upset many fans, who wanted to see him be more physically unhinged when he was fighting in the first two films. Although the criticism did have some basis four years ago, Holland’s latest portrayal of the character seemed to have thrown water over all their complaints.
Tom Holland Wasn’t Far Behind
Although there is no denying that the combat in Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Spider-Man: Far From Home was tame when it comes to combat, Tom Holland’s franchise seriously turned up the levels in Spider-Man: No Way Home. The film showcased how the creators were more focused on the bigger story of the trilogy rather than executing a single arc for one film.

The progression of Peter Parker’s character in the final film changed the minds of many who disliked Holland’s character, and one scene can perfectly encompass this. The entire fight sequence between Parker and Green Goblin in the final act of the film left audiences stunned on levels that cannot be explained.
“i love how relentless this spider-man is. Like he just goes at doc, i don’t think holland even throws a punch in his movies lol” mentioned Cheeks750 on YouTube.
“This Spiderman literally BEATS the shit out of doc while the other Spider-Man’s play patty cake with their villains” added edits007.
“disney would never let spiderman fight like this. Edit: well no way home just proved me wrong.” mentioned jerrysoriano9827.
“No Spider-Man movie will ever be better than this. It’s almost impossible to make something better than this masterpiece.“ said MilesProwerFan4ever.
“This Spider-man threw more punches in this movie alone than MCU Spider-man did in 5 films. Such a brawler.” stated mg-us7ug.
Never had they seen so much anger and hatred in someone’s eyes. The thirst to get his revenge and actually kill Norman Osborn was something fans never expected out of his character, and it completely changed the way they looked at him. Another aspect of the fight that surprised many was the combat.

In that one scene, Holland’s character used such great force and had the intent to kill with every punch he landed. There was weight behind every blow, and the fallout could be seen on Goblin’s face, bloody and grinning. With this in mind, many fans who had seen the film pointed out that they were of similar thinking to the rest before they watched the 2021 film.
