Hugh Jackman has been in the Marvel Universe for more than 20 years, an unprecedented feat that no Marvel actor has ever rivaled. Jackman seems as rejuvenated as ever as he reprises the role of Wolverine after 7 years and he sounds very enthusiastic about the film in interviews. There has been no news about whether he will be sticking around for more adventures in the MCU. A new scoop suggests that the actor isn’t going anywhere after Deadpool & Wolverine.

New Rumor About Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine Instills New Hope For His Potential Secret Wars Role

Hugh Jackman’s unparalleled tenure as Wolverine continues with the upcoming MCU film Deadpool & Wolverine where he reunites with Ryan Reynolds after 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The film marks his 10th appearance as Wolverine and the actor looks great as ever, even donning the character’s iconic yellow suit that fans have always wanted to see.

With the film now close to its release date, many have started theorizing and speculating about the film’s impact on the MCU and whether the film will be a one-and-done deal for Jackman. While nothing about the matter has not been revealed officially, a popular scooper Daniel Richtman has stated on X that Jackman is sticking around for a bit more in the MCU after Deadpool & Wolverine.

Fans should take this news with a grain of salt for now. However, if this turns out to be true, it would fulfill Jackman’s greatest Marvel dream of teaming up with the Avengers. In 2013, he predicted that the X-Men characters and the Avengers would someday come together and fight alongside in an epic ensemble film. Jackman said (via X),

I believe, maybe I’m just optimistic. I understand that Marvel’s got the Avengers, they’ve got a lot of big things going on, but at some point, I just find it almost impossible that there’s not a way to bring, Iron Man, all the Avengers characters, Wolverine the X-Men characters, Spider-Man and somehow get them in together.

With Fox under Disney now, it is now possible for it to happen, and it will most likely happen in Secret Wars. Additionally, he has expressed his desire to join the Avengers and be part of the “great dysfunction among that team” in an interview with IGN in 2014. If Marvel is planning to keep a high-profile character for some time, the most obvious reason is to use him for the upcoming Avengers films. All will be known after fans experience Deadpool & Wolverine later this July.

Hugh Jackman‘s Wolverine returns in all its glory in Deadpool & Wolverine. The actor along with Ryan Reynolds and director Shawn Levy have been going on an international promotional tour for the film and their first stop was Shanghai. During a fan event there, Jackman talked about how he felt while playing the character again after so many years.

The actor stated that making Deadpool & Wolverine was one of the greatest experiences of his life. He even went on to say that his experience in the film exceeded everything he’s done as Wolverine in past films. He also teased the irreverent nature of the film, interlaced with warmth and joy. Jackman said (via YouTube),

The experience of making the movie was also one of the greatest of my career, and I’ve been playing Wolverine for 25 years. This experience exceeded anything I’ve done before as this character — and in many other movies, in anything. I loved it. And I think it shows on the screen. You can feel the warmth. The movie has a warmth to it, and it’s funny, and it’s irreverent, and the action is crazy. But I think you can feel the friendship.

In addition to Jackman’s high praise for the film, Reynolds has also called the movie the best movie he’s ever made (via On Demand Entertainment). Audiences’ expectations are sure to hit the roof after all these promising words from the leads of the film.

Deadpool & Wolverine will also star Matthew Macfadyen, Emma Corrin, and many others, and will hit theatres on July 26, 2024.
