“Hugh is a liar”: Ryan Reynolds Calls Hugh Jackman a “Coward and Liar” For Coming Out of His Wolverine Retirement as Their Rivalry Continues

Ryan Reynolds just called Hugh Jackman a liar for a reason that made his upcoming film super exciting.

There is no less fun seeing the rivalry between Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman— mostly poking fun at each other at their expense. Their upcoming MCU movie Deadpool & Wolverine has featured the same characteristic trait as well but before the release of the movie, the duo started name-calling as Reynolds recently called Jackman a liar and coward.

Marvel Studios has prepared Deadpool & Wolverine to be a banger at the box office making it the only movie slated for a theatrical treat for fans. Now ahead of its release, the fun pokes and teasing have also been revealed in the trailer and the clips of the movie. But off the screen, the Deadpool actor Reynolds seemingly vowed to leave no stone unturned to take a friendly jibe at his co-star.

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s friendship is quite commendable and the duo getting into each other’s nerve has also caught the interest of fans over the years. Now, Reynolds called his co-star a liar and a coward for bringing his Wolverine out of retirement from Fox to Marvel Studios.

Jackman’s Wolverine— the X-Men character he played for 24 years (counting Deadpool & Wolverine)— was dead in the 2017 movie Logan, it was a fair and grand farewell to the beloved mutant. However, Reynolds; director, Shawn Levy; and Jackman himself resurrected the character in a different light putting him alongside Deadpool as one of the title characters.

Recently, a journalist from AP Entertainment asked Reynolds in New York about Jackman’s Wolverine return.

“Now, I think, I think we all can see that Hugh is a liar, you know? That a bald faced horrible coward and a liar. Uh, here he is, back again back again. You know, you have to find out how he comes back because that’s one of the most fun aspects of the movie.”

Seemingly, it’s on. If Jackman sees the clip of Reynolds’ interview, there would be no way in hell to stop him to poke back at the Deadpool star. Regardless, it would be fun for fans and another headline-grabber.

Hugh Jackman On His Wolverine Return

Wolverine’s return was huge news but there was the utmost concern lurking above the cloud of the Ryan Reynolds’ ambitious movie that even Marvel boss Kevin Feige acknowledged. Feige initially told Jackman not to bring back his dead character back on the screen.

“I said, ‘Let me give you a piece of advice, Hugh: ‘Don’t come back. You had the greatest ending in history with Logan’ That’s not something we should undo,” Feige told Empire.

But to his relief, the return of the character would not nullify the essence of the death of Wolverine in Logan.

“It’s all because of this device they have in the Marvel world of moving around timelines. Now we can go back because, you know, it’s science. So, I don’t have to screw with the Logan timeline, which was important to me. And I think probably to the fans too,” Jackman previously told SiriusXM.

The 55-year-old further revealed that he was not ready to hang up his boots as Wolverine. “That question came into my head, ‘What do I want to do?’” The X-Men star said while speaking with Empire.

“And as soon as I asked the question, I wanted to do Deadpool & Wolverine. I just knew it. Couldn’t stop thinking about it. And I…called Ryan, and said, ‘Ryan, if you’ll have me, I’m in.’”

Certainly, both versions of Wolverine look different, Jackman wears a new suit that resembles the classy yellow, comic-book-accurate costume of the iconic character. Also, as per the trailer, it seems that Deadpool & Wolverine featured a different Logan that never appeared on the 20th Century Fox hit franchise.
