“Honestly, it’s thoughtless”: Paul Bettany’s MCU Return After ‘WandaVision’ Sparks Mass Outrage as Marvel Disappoints Its Fans Over Diversity Claims

Paul Bettany’s upcoming series sparked debate among fans over its title, which many claimed lacks in diversity.

Paul Bettany, WandaVision

MCU’s WandaVision took a huge step and became the franchise’s first-ever sitcom, but it’s not just a regular television show. It was Scarlet Witch’s way of dealing with grief over Vision’s death. She created a fake reality by taking over Westview Town and living a happy married life with her lover.

Things got even more complicated as Vision became aware that he was just a figment of Wanda’s imagination. It also took fans by surprise when the White Vision entered the scene.

Paul Bettany’s Upcoming Vision Series Has Found Its Director

As per Variety, Marvel Studios has tapped Terry Matalas to work on a planned Vision-centered series set to arrive in 2026. In an interview with Inverse, Kevin Feige revealed the reason he chose the director for the project.

That’s how I got to know him. It was from his amazing work on Picard Season 3. I said, ‘This is incredible. I don’t know how this exists. Let me find the person who made this.’

Paul Bettany previously spoke about his love and passion for playing Vision in the MCU. At the time, he was still in the dark about the future of his character. He told Deadline:

You never know with Marvel, whether you’re done, or not. So I don’t want to call it the end yet. This was one of the most creative experiences of my life, joyful and free, making this show. To see it embraced by an audience the way it was, was so wonderful.

After Vision perished at the hands of the Mad Titan, he was resurrected on screen in WandaVision as the imaginary partner of Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff and as a rebuilt ghost-white android with a wiped-out memory.

The two Visions ended up battling each other in the final episode of the series, with Wanda’s Vision restoring White Vision’s memories, after which, allowing the former to vanish into thin air.

The upcoming show will explore the events after that epic ending. White Vision is a product of the S.W.O.R.D., a counterterrorism and intelligence agency that utilized the remnants of Vision’s original body to create a new one, specifically designed to eliminate Wanda.

On Twitter, fans are going wild over a post that shared a confirmation claiming MCU’s “White Vision” series is now in the works. So far, the reported working title for Paul Bettany’s show is Vision Quest, but the outlet labeled it “White Vision”, prompting the netizens to speak up.

There is no confirmation yet as to the series’ official title, but since the character is called White Vision, the outlet wrote the show’s title as such.

Fans did not miss the chance to poke fun at the blunder amid the outrage from some fans who found the title thoughtless and insensitive. There is no specific release date yet, but the project is expected to premiere in 2026.
