Helen’s Pregnancy Shocker in Sweet Magnolias Season 5—And the Father’s Identity Will Leave You Speechless

Sweet Magnolias fans are wondering whether Helen’s wishes will finally come true and she’ll have a baby in the show. The romantic drama that is now making waves on Netflix is based on the eponymous book series by Sherryl Woods. As the series premiered its fourth season recently, many are now curious to know how the adaptation will differ from the books in the coming seasons and how was her pregnancy handled in the source material.

Here’s everything you need to know about whether Helen Decatur has a baby in the Sweet Magnolias novels.

Does Helen have a baby in the Sweet Magnolias books?

Yes, Helen does have a baby in the Sweet Magnolias book series.

In the third book, Feels Like Family, Helen does end up getting pregnant and having a baby, but the fans were not happy with how the story panned out. In the books, Erik had made his wishes clear that he did not want a kid. We soon find out that Helen decided to ignore his wishes and lie to him that she was on birth control.

In the Netflix series, however, things turned out pretty differently for Helen. From the sophomore season itself, Helen is forthcoming about her desire to have a kid. But her failed relationships make the prospect difficult for her. Her first partner in the series Ryan had clearly revealed that he does not share Helen’s wish to become a parent. However, Helen does become pregnant but it ends in a tragedy when she suffers a miscarriage. Soon after, Helen and Ryan break up before she finds love again with Erik.

This relationship had its ups and downs as well and even though they split up by the end of Season 3, the couple soon find their way back to each other. Following a devastating hurricane that hit Serenity in Season 4, Helen and Erik realize that they are still drawn to one another and the pair soon rekindle their relationship. The season ends with the couple getting engaged, promising better days ahead for Helen. Whether or not Helen will have kids in Season 5 remains to be seen. But, fans are in agreement that her character deserves a happy ending after all she’s been through.
