Virgin River is almost back on Netflix and fans are keen to find out what will happen next. But one character who left the show in season four was Ricky, played by Grayson Gurnsey.
Fans of Netflix’s Virgin River are eagerly awaiting the return of season six and they are talking about their favourite characters, particularly for the comeback of Ricky, portrayed by Grayson Gurnsey, who left in season four to join the Marines.
Grayson expressed to Express.co.uk his wish to have had more screen time with Colin Lawrence’s character, Preacher. Earlier this year, it was revealed that Ricky would be returning, as hinted in the latest trailer.
Ricky is set for a surprise when Lizzie discloses her pregnancy news. His return was almost written into the second half of season five, but there wasn’t enough room in the storyline.
Season four saw Ricky grappling with his breakup, which provided some emotional moments. He and Lizzie were in a good place until he decided to join the Marines.
To avoid upsetting Lizzie early in their relationship, he chose not to tell her until it was too late. Lizzie was devastated that Ricky didn’t feel he could be honest with her, leading to their breakup.
In season four, Lizzie and the other residents bid an emotional farewell to Ricky.
Ricky star Grayson, when he initially left the show, told Express.co.uk that his character would not be featured in season five as it was necessary to make space for other storylines. He also shared his thoughts on who he wished he had more screen time with and paid homage to his co-star Colin.
“This is one of those questions that is really impossible to answer because the characters are all amazing.
“There are several characters whose bubbles never really meet, like Doc and Ricky never really have meaningful conversations.”
He added, “But I’d say probably my favourite scenes on the show are with Colin, or Preacher, he is such a fun, loving guy.”
“We have fantastic scenes, there’s this one scene in season three at [Lilly’s] funeral and we have this little tender moment.”
He expressed his desire for more such moments, “I wish we had more of those. In the books, they are pretty prevalent, like Ricky has a lot more scenes with Preacher.”
“He takes just as much as a father figure role as Jack and that was one thing that was missing for me.”
Despite this, he was content with the overall outcome of the show, “But otherwise I’m very happy with how the show turned out.”
Lizzie actress Sarah, speaking to Express.co.uk, expressed her joy at sharing the screen with Grayson again in season four.
She revealed her favorite scene from the latest series, saying: “The Renaissance fayre was a standout for me.”
“Getting to get up on stage and do that little piece of Romeo and Juliet with Grayson and have an audience out there.”
“And everyone was dressed in these beautiful costumes, you don’t get that very often.”
“I got to dress up like a princess and that’s okay with me.”
In other news, Ricky found it hard to bid farewell to Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) as he embarked on a new journey.
