Meghan Markle once revealed she planned to quit one ‘unladylike’ habit on her former lifestyle blog, The Tig, but it seems she may have struggled to keep her vow.

Many people use New Year’s Eve to make plans for the future – and Meghan Markle is no different.

The Duchess of Sussex once revealed on her former lifestyle blog, The Tig, that she intended to quit a certain “unladylike” habit. As she looked forward to a new year, Meghan confessed her desire to stop biting her nails, among other things that occur after “a couple of drinks.”

In one blog post, Meghan listed the habits she had hoped to break the previous year but apparently failed to do so. Meghan wrote, “Run a marathon. Stop biting my nails. Stop swearing. Re-learn French. These makeup my New Year’s resolution list nearly every year (AKA actually every).”

Meghan admitted, “The marathon hasn’t happened. The swearing comes in lulls triggered by being overworked or feeling mighty cheeky after a couple of drinks.”

Meghan Markle struggled to stick to her plans 

She continued, “Then there’s the French – a language I studied through high school and then lost as I immersed myself in speaking Spanish with the Argentinians during my stint in Buenos Aires. I have put my little Rosetta Stone headset in my eager ears every year, resolving to do interviews en francais, but much to my chagrin, it hasn’t stuck.”

Meghan added, “And when it comes to the biting of the nails well, it still happens with a turbulent flight or a stressful day. It’s unladylike. But then again, so is the swearing. Dammit.”

The post was shared in January 2016 and in a bid not to disappoint herself that year, Meghan decided not to make any promises. She explained, “For this new year, the only thing I aim to do is to approach life playfully. To laugh and enjoy, to keep my standards high but my level of self-acceptance higher. My New Year’s resolution is to leave room for magic. To make my plans, and be okay if they sometimes break. To set my goals, but to be open to change.”

Whether the former Suits star has made any resolutions for 2025 is currently unclear, but she does have plenty of things to look forward to. Meghan will be launching her brand new Netflix cooking show which will tie in with her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard.

She is also expected to join Prince Harry in Canada next month for the Invictus Games, which are taking place in Vancouver and Whistler.
