Nicolas Cage makes his live-action debut as the titular hero in the Spider-Noir TV show for the upcoming Marvel live-action series. While Sony is still pursuing Spider-Man stories on the big screen, the web-crawler is getting a new home through MGM+ and Prime Video with Spider-Noir. After having voiced Spider-Man Noir in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Cage is getting a shot to portray him in live-action through the Spider-Noir TV show.
Spider-Noir has begun principal photography in Los Angeles, as Just Jared snapped the first shots at Cage as his mysterious Marvel superhero who is reportedly not going to be Peter Parker in this interpretation. The setting in the photos also gives a first proper taste of the 1930s New York that will be central to the Spider-Noir series.
What The Spider-Noir Set Photos With Nicolas Cage Means
While Cage’s character name remains to be seen, the Spider-Noir set photos do reveal a few intriguing details about the Marvel TV show. Even though no other Spider-Noir cast members can be spotted in the photos, something or someone has seemingly attacked Cage’s Spider-Man Noir. As he looks shaken up, Cage can be seen looking at something off to the side, suggesting that he is likely fighting someone.
Since Spider-Noir is confirmed to already focus on Cage’s leading hero already far into his career, it’s possible that he is dealing with a foe who is already established in this continuity. This incident could also be what sets up the confirmed Spider-Noir premise, which will follow “the story of an aging and down on his luck private investigator in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero.” Depending on the context, this may be what brings him back into life as a superhero.
Our Take On The Spider-Noir Set Photos
Since it is very likely that this is Spider-Noir episode 1 that they are currently filming, there will be more to observe through future set photos and video the further they get into production. Later shooting may also include more Spider-Noir cast members, as there are currently multiple actors who have been tapped for mystery roles. But for now, the world will have to speculate what the first batch of Spider-Noir set photos means for Cage’s upcoming series.
