“Fans Are Not Ready for This!” Virgin River Star Teases a Shocking Show’s Future

Is a season eight on the cards?

Virgin River' Season 4: Release Date, Cast, and More | Marie Claire

Virgin River‘s Ben Hollingsworth gives a positive update on the show’s season eight renewal future amid cast exit rumours.

During a recent interview, the Dan Brady actor shared a conversation he had with Virgin River‘s showrunner Patrick Sean Smith, where the pair discussed their intention to produce a season eight.

“I just had a conversation with Sean and obviously, we need to be renewed for season eight, but he’s already thinking toward that,” Hollingsworth explained.

This comes after fan speculation that one of the show’s leads, Martin Henderson, could leave the show. Fans shared concerns over Henderson’s future on the show via Reddit, but the Jack Sheridan actor has yet to comment.

While it has been confirmed that the show will return for season seven, Netflix has yet to officially green-light another series beyond that.

Filming on the next instalment is due to commence in March 2025. The production window was confirmed by Virgin River star Tim Matheson during an interview with Anna Daly.

He went on to share his experience of working on the show, stating: “I love the feeling of the show, and also the cast and crew have all been congealed into family, so it’s really wonderful that we all now think of each other as family. It is one of my favourite experiences.”

Matheson added: “I love playing Doc Mullins because I’ve played a lot of doctors, and I did a lot of research about country doctors who work in small towns, where you know all of your patients. It’s a different kind of connection with the people you serve.

“When you walk down the street, you see them; you see them at the bar at night. It’s a different kind of medicine, really. This is the story of a guy who left the big city to get back to treating patients one-on-one, and I love that.”

Virgin River seasons 1-6 are streaming now on Netflix.
