Fan Outrage: Will Deadpool 3 Continue to Defame Favorite X-Men Characters?

Deadpool & Wolverine will have many cameos, but one rumored cameo for the upcoming MCU film presents a risk of continuing a disrespectful trend.

Deadpool & Wolverine risks continuing a disrespectful trend regarding one X-Men character who’s rumored to make a cameo. Plenty of speculation exists surrounding which characters from the Fox Marvel universe will appear in Deadpool & Wolverine. So far, besides the titular two, the only confirmed appearance is Aaron Stanford’s Pyro, who popped up in the trailer, along with many characters from the Deadpool films. There are reports that Jennifer Garner’s Elektra will return, but neither she nor Marvel have confirmed it.

Still, Deadpool & Wolverine is shaping up to be a cameo extravaganza, and audiences have their theories about who could show up. One popular rumored cameo is Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, the longtime mentor to Wolverine and the rest of the X-Men. Deadpool hasn’t met him, so it could be a hilarious interaction between the two characters. However, his return would also present the continuation of a trend that hasn’t been too kind to Stewart’s Charles Xavier.

Why Deadpool & Wolverine Needs To Avoid Killing Off Professor X

Patrick Stewart's Professor X using his telepathy in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Stewart’s final appearance as Fox’s Professor X was in Logan. He delivered a stellar final performance in the role but was violently killed off by X-24, Wolverine’s murderous clone. Most recently, he had a cameo as a different version of Charles Xavier in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as the leader of the Illuminati. However, he was killed by the Scarlet Witch, along with the rest of the Illuminati. Stewart’s Professor X is a beloved version of the mutant hero, but he has been killed off in his last two appearances.

Additionally, he was also killed in X-Men: The Last Stand, meaning he has died three times on screen. Deadpool & Wolverine could potentially be a killing spree as Deadpool battles the TVA and the forces of the Fox Marvel universe. If Professor X does appear in the film, Marvel needs to avoid killing him again, as it’s starting to feel disrespectful. Stewart has an excellent legacy as this character and repeatedly bringing him back just to kill him again feels like a disservice to Professor X and Stewart himself.

Will Deadpool Kill The Fox Universe?

One popular theory for Deadpool & Wolverine is that it will be an adaptation of the Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe comic book series. However, this would involve Wade Wilson killing the Fox universe before joining the MCU. If this is the film’s direction, Deadpool can hopefully spare Professor X, who has suffered enough in his last two films. While it may be unlikely that Patrick Stewart will continue to play after a potential appearance here, it seems like he’s earned whatever form of a happy ending the MCU can afford him.
