Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4 has just received some exciting updates in a new report. Peter Parker’s story in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is far from over. While Spider-Man: No Way Home closed the door on the high school chapter of his life, Holland’s Peter will be back for a new adventure in the MCU’s Spider-Man 4, which has yet to reveal any plot details. However, after delays due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes, it seems like Spider-Man 4 is back on track.

According to The InSneiderthe MCU’s Spider-Man 4 is eyeing a September-October filming start. The upcoming MCU movie is said to still be looking for a director, with Fast & Furious franchise director Justin Lin among the names in the mix to helm the project. Zendaya is also rumored to return as MJ for Spider-Man 4. At the time of writing, there has been no confirmation from Marvel Studios or Sony about the contents of the report.

Holland’s Spider-Man 4 will be the first movie in the hero’s MCU franchise to break a release trend. From 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming to 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home to 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, all the wall-crawler’s movies were released with a 2-year difference. Spider-Man 4 has already missed that window, signaling the longest gap between Spider-Man movies in the MCU.

That said, judging by the ever-shifting slate of the MCU amid the Multiverse Saga, it seems like the movie is further along than thought. Given its rumored September-October filming start date, Holland’s Spider-Man 4 could be swinging into theaters by late 2025. Normally, MCU movies tend to go before cameras a year before they are supposed to release, and with Spider-Man 4 eyeing a late 2024 filming start, the movie could be ready for a release in 2025 if there are no unforeseen delays.

While Spider-Man 4 could be ready for a late 2025 release, Sony currently has a slot for an unnamed Marvel movie for June 27, 2025. If the movie were to make that release date, its filming would ideally have to start earlier than the rumored September-October filming start. Sony could move that date to better accommodate Spider-Man 4, and that would be best for the MCU, which already has two movies set to release in May 2025 and July 2025 — Thunderbolts and The Fantastic Four, respectively.
