The hope and hype for the upcoming mutant fiesta started off with a clip of Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman amping fans up, months back. Continuing the marketing hype, the latest update from Deadpool Updates on X, broke the news of claw machines popping up at different theaters. A lucky pick will have the bearer pull out an egg-shaped box containing Deadpool and Wolverine-themed friendship necklaces, exactly of the kind featured in official posters.

Colored in red and yellow for the two characters and featuring their eyes, the prized memorabilia carries two pieces of jewelry, one for each character. The rules state that each ticket holder will be allowed to try their luck only once but get to carry their win home. Notably, this instance marks probably the first-ever such initiative by Marvel Studios in a bid to pull in more fans.

The installation of these machines across the theaters also came close on the heels of the movie opening up for the sale of tickets, a move announced by the two leads along with some brief new footage. In the meantime, the presales have broken past the most number of tickets sold for an R-rated movie across AMC theaters and may rake in close to $8 or $9 million.

The golden opportunity to have their hands on such special memorabilia has triggered widespread fan interest online. Several of those online commented to inquire about the theaters that currently have the claw machines in place. In response, others noted that the initial rollouts have places like San Francisco, Toronto, and a few other AMC outlets on their list with others being followed up at a rapid pace.

Deadpool & Wolverine has garnered rave hype ever since it previewed its first teaser during the Super Bowl. Marking the next collaboration between Reynolds and Jackman after a botched outing in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the movie holds immense nostalgic value. However, it also carries unparalleled significance for the introduction and entry of the mutants in the MCU.

Easter eggs and glimpses from the second trailer offered a complete look at Cassandra Nova, and several other returning X-Men members. Additionally, a portal sequence also triggered speculations about the return of Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange.
