15. Original Deadpool

The Variant From The First Two Deadpool Movies

Naturally, the most prominent variant of Deadpool to appear in Deadpool & Wolverine is the titular version. This version hails from Earth-10005, the official multiversal designation for Fox’s X-Men movie timeline, and picks up from the ending of Deadpool 2. After establishing his usage of Cable’s time machine, which even resulted in him traveling to Earth-616 in an attempt to join the Avengers, Deadpool & Wolverine shows Wade as a car salesman, officially retired from superhero work as Deadpool.

When the TVA appears and informs Deadpool of a threat to his timeline, the hero springs back into action. Of course, this variant of Deadpool gets the most screentime as the lead of the film, from his adventure to find a variant of Logan who can help him to his battles in the Void against the forces of Cassandra Nova. By the time of the film’s ending, Deadpool encounters several other versions of himself, some more friendly than others.

14. Dogpool

Mary Poppins Is Deadpool’s Loyal Ally

The Deadpool variant with the second-most amount of screentime in Deadpool & Wolverine is arguably Dogpool, a.k.a. Mary Poppins. This character first appears in the Void as a companion of another Deadpool variant but takes a liking to the original Deadpool. Throughout the film, Dogpool often reappears as someone who wants to be around the titular duo of Deadpool and Wolverine.

In the final act, Dogpool appears alongside the rest of the Deadpool Corps. Dogpool races towards Deadpool and Wolverine before they can be attacked by the other variants, being hidden away before the ensuing fight. Dogpool is based on the same variant of the character from Marvel Comics, though as a much different type of dog.

13Nicepool

The Nicest Variant Of Deadpool In Deadpool & Wolverine

Early in the production of Deadpool & Wolverine, set photos revealed an image of Ryan Reynolds filming as a long-haired variant of Deadpool. Many took to calling this variant a samurai version of Deadpool, but Deadpool & Wolverine dubs him Nicepool. This variant of the character is the initial owner of Dogpool and helps the original Deadpool and Wolverine on their adventure through the Void.

Like Dogpool, Nicepool’s arrival in the final act of Deadpool & Wolverine precedes the appearance of the Deadpool Corps. Unfortunately, Nicepool does not possess the same powers as other variants and cannot regenerate, leading him to a tragically hilarious death scene shortly after one of the film’s best meta jokes. Nicepool’s legacy lives on, however, when the original Deadpool takes up his weapons and avenges his death.

12. Lady Deadpool

The Female Leader Of The Deadpool Corps

Blake Lively as a villain in A Simple Favor

While the Deadpool Corps did not outwardly proclaim a leader, the variant who led them through the portal in the finale of Deadpool & Wolverine was Lady Deadpool. Lady Deadpool is another popular variant of the character from Marvel Comics and was teased in several of the film’s trailers. The teases caused a great deal of speculation, with theories about who would play the female version of the character ranging from Ryan Reynolds in a wig to Taylor Swift.

While the character was never unmasked, Lively provided the voice work for the character and was likely the one under the suit…

Another popular name raised for Lady Deadpool was Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds’ wife. As it turns out, Lively portrayed Lady Deadpool in Deadpool & Wolverine. While the character was never unmasked, Lively provided the voice work for the character and was likely the one under the suit too. Lady Deadpool is slightly different from other variants in that she has two mini machine guns as her primary weapons rather than dual pistols.

11. Kidpool

The Young Version Of Deadpool Was Another Member Of The Corps

Kidpool on his knees in Marvel Comics

Kidpool is another Marvel Comics variant of the Deadpool Corps that was heavily theorized to appear in the film. Many assumed that Walker Scobell would portray this variant, given his prior work with director Shawn Levy in The Adam Project. In this film, Scobell played a younger version of Ryan Reynolds, leading many to believe he was perfect for the role of Kidpool.

However, Scobell did not portray Kidpool in Deadpool & Wolverine. Instead, that honor went to Inez Reynolds, the daughter of Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively. Kidpool, like Lady Deadpool, remained masked in the finale of the movie, instead being reduced to one line of dialogue. However, the dialogue was suitably laden with curse words and profanity, fitting the R-rated tone of the movie as another Deadpool variant.

10. Headpool

The Zombified Version Of Deadpool From Marvel Comics

Perhaps the strangest variant of Deadpool in Deadpool & Wolverine is Headpool. In the comics, Headpool began as simply another Deadpool from an alternate Earth. However, this timeline was infected by a zombie outbreak, leading Wade to be bitten. The zombified version of Wade was transported to Earth-616 where his body was torn apart, leaving him a talking, zombie head resembling the Merc with a Mouth.

For the most part, this is exactly how Deadpool & Wolverine portrays Headpool too. Longtime MCU cameo actor Nathan Fillion voices Headpool in the film, who is seen flying out of a portal alongside the other variants of the character. While he was not much use in the ensuing battle between the Corps and Deadpool and Wolverine, the character’s strange nature and iconic design leave an impression.

9. Babypool

The Youngest Deadpool Variant

Kidpool is a child version of Deadpool, but Deadpool & Wolverine takes this one step further. In the film, there is Babypool, which is exactly how it sounds. This variant of Wade Wilson is a baby, who naturally does not play a big part in the battle against Deadpool and Wolverine. Interestingly, another Reynolds brings Babypool to life, with Lively and Reynolds’ fourth and most recent child, Olin Reynolds, portraying the variant.

8. Cowboy Deadpool

The Wild West Version Of Wade Wilson

Undoubtedly one of the more recognizable variants of Deadpool present in Deadpool & Wolverine‘s final act is Cowboy Deadpool. The character, like Babypool, looks exactly as one would expect. The variant wears the classic Deadpool suit but with all the cowboy get-up, from the boots, spurs, hat, and belt buckle. The quickdraw weapons also separate Cowboy Deadpool from his brethren in the Deadpool Corps.

Matthew McConaughey has often been fancast in a number of Marvel roles, including Norman Osborn in the MCU’s upcoming Spider-Man 4 .

Concerning who plays Cowboy Deadpool, the cameo is near perfect. In Deadpool & Wolverine, Matthew McConaughey finally makes his way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe by voicing the character. McConaughey’s southern drawl is perfect for a wild west version of Deadpool, lending his iconic voice to the character as he attempts to take down Wolverine and the original Deadpool alongside his peers in the Corps.

7. Welshpool

Besides acting, Reynolds’ biggest business venture in recent years has been his ownership of Welsh football club, Wrexham A.F.C. This ownership, alongside It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Rob Mcelhenney, has been outlined in the Disney+ series Welcome to Wrexham. Naturally, many expected Deadpool’s meta brand of humor to contain references to Wrexham A.F.C., with the Deadpool Corps proving this to be true.

Among the army of Deadpool variants in the finale of Deadpool & Wolverine is Welshpool. The character looks the same as most other Deadpool variants, only with a giant Welsh flag painted across his chest. In the film, Welshpool is portrayed by Wrexham player Paul Mullin, who has made over 100 appearances for Reynolds’ club.

6. Watari (Ronin-pool)

The Samurai Variant Of Deadpool From Marvel Comics

Watari Ronin Pool Deadpool Character

Like Cowboy Deadpool and Welshpool, Watari is one of the more recognizable Deadpool variants in Deadpool & Wolverine. This version of the character is distinguishable by his Eastern influence, wielding a samurai sword and dressed in a long, flowing robe. Similarly, Watari wears a large ronin hat, capping off the Japanese influence of the variant.

Watari is actually a variant of Deadpool in Marvel Comics. While brief, Watari’s appearance in the comics comes as he is shown saving several members of the Deadpool Corps from various threats. However, Watari is killed alongside many other members of the team by the Evil Deadpool Corps. In Deadpool & Wolverine, Watari fights against the titular duo and lives to fight another day along with the rest of his self-healing companions.

5. Deadpool 2099

The Futuristic Variant Of Wade Wilson

deadpool 2099

Another of the Deadpool variants in Deadpool & Wolverine that stands out among the crowd is Deadpool 2099. This character is showcased as a futuristic version of Wade Wilson, complete with a very highly advanced suit of armor that has neon lights running throughout. Rather than wield swords like the other Deadpool variants, Deadpool 2099 has lightsaber-like sticks of energy that they use to fight against Deadpool and Wolverine.

In Marvel Comics, Deadpool 2099 has her own run. The character is known as Warda Wilson and is the daughter of Wade and Shiklah, the queen of the underworld. The character first appeared in 2016, making her one of the more recent variants of Deadpool to appear as part of the Corps in Deadpool & Wolverine‘s explosive final act.

4. Golden Age Deadpool

One Of The Founding Deadpool Corps Members

Golden Age Deadpool

In Marvel Comics, there are four characters who appear to Deadpool and tell him of the Corps. One of these is Golden Age Deadpool, alongside Lady Deadpool, Dogpool, and Kidpool. Golden Age Deadpool is exactly what his name suggests, a variant of the character from the Golden Age of comic book heroes.

In Deadpool & Wolverine, the comic book design of Golden Age Deadpool has been translated well. Rather than the spandex suit worn by most Deadpool variants, Golden Age Deadpool wears more old-timey clothes, complete with a gasmask and a pair of cutlasses, as opposed to Deadpool’s usual katanas. In the fight, he is defeated by Deadpool and Wolverine before recovering.

3. Zenpool

A More Pacifistic Version Of Deadpool

Zenpool taking on villains in Marvel Comics' Axis

In Marvel Comics, Zenpool forms from the backlash of a spell cast by Scarlet Witch and Doctor Doom. During a battle against an army called the Red Onslaught, Scarlet Witch and Doom attempted to alter the Onslaught’s brain, inadvertently affecting their allies, including Deadpool. As such, Deadpool became Zenpool, a pacifistic version of his former self.

Zenpool wears a white Deadpool mask with a grey hood and a large wooden stick as his weapon. In Deadpool & Wolverine, one of the Deadpool variants that receives a close-up is Zenpool. The film showcases his white mask and the wooden stick weapon before the Corps rushes to meet Deadpool and Wolverine in battle.

2. Peterpool

Arguably The Most Important Deadpool Variant

Deadpool saving Peter in Deadpool 2's post-credits scene

After the battle rages between Wolverine, Deadpool, and the Deadpool Corps, the self-healing nature of the latter threatens to result in another conflict. However, an unlikely hero saves the day: Peterpool. Using the Deadpool costume hung in his work locker, Peter – the close friend of the original Deadpool – dons the suit and rushes into the fray.

The other Deadpools begin lauding Peter, lifting him above them and rushing off to celebrate his arrival. As it turns out, every Deadpool has a Peter, and he is someone who they are all clearly lucky to have. Peterpool’s appearance calms tempers, preventing another fight from occurring. In doing so, Peter arguably saves the Marvel multiverse as, without him, Deadpool & Wolverine‘s villain would not have been stopped in time by the titular heroic duo.

1. The Deadpool Corps

The Remainder Of The Deadpool Variants

Outside of the recognizable Deadpool variants mentioned, Deadpool & Wolverine simply had hundreds of other versions of the character. Without the defining traits of samurai hats, cowboy hats, gray hoods, or youth, the many other Deadpool variants were other people in seemingly identical suits. These Deadpool variants were used to fill out the numbers for the final battle in Deadpool & Wolverine, as the Deadpool variants came up against the titular mutants in an MCU action scene for the ages.
