Actress Lily Collins spoke on The One Show tonight about experiencing a “career first”. The Emily in Paris star joined hosts Alex Jones and Roman Kemp on the iconic BBC set to discuss her foray into theatre.

Alongside Alvaro Morte of Money Heist fame, Collins detailed their upcoming performances in the two-hander drama Barcelona, which will mark their West End debut at Duke of York’s Theatre starting October 21, reports the Mirror.

When Jones questioned the transition from screen to stage, she admitted with some astonishment: “I was quite surprised, Lily, that you did it in school, but not professionally.”

The Netflix actress revealed: “No, this is my first experience, and the West End has been a childhood dream of mine. So, to be able to do it with Alvaro and our amazing team (…) at the Duke of York is a dream.

“It’s vastly different from film and TV there’s no chance to simply take another shot. Therefore, all hinges on preparation, where we’re currently immersing ourselves. We’re on a swift journey here, completely thrilled!”

Morte also expressed excitement regarding his theatrical venture with Collins, commenting: “Sometimes you feel like the magic is just there.”

The plot for Barcelona, penned by Bess Wohl and directed by Lynette Linton, is as follows: “Late night in Barcelona. An American tourist goes home with a handsome Spaniard. What begins as a carefree, one-night stand becomes an invitation to danger, as the personal and political catastrophically intertwine.

“By turns funny, sexy and surprising, Barcelona is a seductive thriller that will keep audiences guessing – exploring the fantasy of who we pretend to be, versus the truth of who we are.”
