Scarlet Witch star Elizabeth Olsen opens up about the chances of her finally coming back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One of the biggest fan-favorite heroes in the MCU timeline is the Scarlet Witch, who hasn’t been in the franchise since 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which appeared to close with the character’s death. However, that hasn’t stopped the MCU audience from wanting to see her come back down the line.
In an interview with FM 104 (via Elizabeth Olsen Updates), Olsen was asked about whether or not she is still open to playing Scarlet Witch again. While Olsen admitted that “they kind of didn’t know what to do with me for a second there,” the actor expressed being game to reprise the role, sharing the following:
It’s a character I love going back to when there’s a way to use her well and I think I’ve been lucky when I started I was used well… and they kind of didn’t know what to do with me for a second there! If there’s a good way to use her, I’m always happy to come back.
How Could Scarlet Witch Return To The MCU?
While Marvel Studios may not have announced any official plans to bring Scarlet Witch back into the franchise, there are a few key projects coming up in the MCU that would perfectly set up Wanda’s latest run in the timeline. One of the last MCU TV shows for 2024 is Agatha All Along, which will continue the adventures of Agatha Harkness after the ending of WandaVision. It has been speculated in major fashion that Scarlet Witch will somehow be resurrected in Agatha All Along, which would make a lot of sense given the character’s ties.
However, there have been recent reports that Olsen may return as Scarlet Witch in the Vision TV show, which will serve as the third installment in the WandaVision trilogy. With Vision looking for his place again in the MCU, it’s key to remember the fact that his show will be out long after Agatha All Along. Because of the release schedule, it wouldn’t be shocking if Agatha All Along sets up Scarlet Witch’s return while Vision expands upon her reemergence in the MCU in 2026, which is when the series is set to premiere on Disney+.
In many ways, it would actually be a surprise if the MCU doesn’t feature Scarlet Witch again at least once before the end of The Multiverse Saga. Since Avengers: Secret Wars is rumored to lead into a soft reboot of the MCU, time will tell if Wanda may be one of the characters who gets massively reimagined for whatever comes in Phase 7 and beyond. But for now, the world will have to wait and see if the MCU has any further plans for Olsen and Scarlet Witch.
