In an appearance on Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace, the 55-year-old actor revealed that he planned to spend six months preparing for his return as Wolverine. “I’ve learned you can’t rush it. I’ve learned that it takes time,” he said before further explaining, as per P., “So, we have six months from when I finish [Broadway’s The Music Man] to when I started filming. And I’m not doing any other work. I’m going to be with my family and train. That’s going to be my job for six months.”

The actor has also shared that after his Broadway The Music Man, his trainer advised him to eat more to bulk for the role. He told Stephen Colbert in an appearance on The Late Show,

“I wore a heart rate monitor [for ‘The Music Man’] because my trainer said, ‘I need to know what I’m working with here because I’m trying to bulk you up.’ I burned 1,500 calories in the show, eight times a week. So she goes: ‘Oh, you gotta eat.’ So I was eating 4,500 calories a day, it was not pretty. Now I’m just eating and training.”

He has since shared brief glimpses of his workout along with his diet on Instagram. One of his posts revealed his six-piece meal, including two chicken burgers, sweet potatoes, and two servings of noodles with grass-fed top sirloin alongside two fish meals; black bass, and Patagonia salmon.

While fans are surely excited about his return as Wolverine to the silver screen, they have expressed concern over the actor’s relentless dedication and commitment as he continues to follow up on the extreme measures.

Hugh Jackman has been following his strict diet and has taken some extreme measures when it comes to portraying Wolverine on-screen, from significantly relying on boiled chicken and broccoli to even opting for dehydration.

And fans are now sharing concerns for the actor, as one X (Twitter) user said, “At this point in his life, does Hugh Jackman even remember what a carb tastes like? The poor bastard has lived on steamed chicken and broccoli for close to a quarter century now.”

Another user, claiming to be an extra in one of Jackman’s movies, recalled seeing him with a plate of carrots, peas, and broccoli, only to learn that it was his whole dinner. Other fans humorously added how his strict diet might fuel the intensity of his portrayal as Wolverine.

However, they also shared their wishes for the actor to be able to eventually enjoy all the delicious things he desires, as he previously mentioned upon retiring from the role following the 2017 film Logan.
