Director’s Candid Reaction to Taylor Swift Cameo Speculations in Deadpool & Wolverine

Deadpool & Wolverine’s director, Shawn Levy, has commented yet again on the potential of Taylor Swift’s cameo as Dazzler in the upcoming Phase 5 film.

Shawn Levy has commented yet again on rumors concerning Taylor Swift’s potential cameo in Marvel Studios’ upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine. Ever since Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson was confirmed to be making the journey from Fox’s X-Men franchise into the MCU, his highly-anticipated Phase 5 debut has been rumored to include several cameo appearances by a variety of superheroes. Reynolds has already been revealed to be joined by Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, Aaron Stanford’s Pyro, X-Men villains Sabretooth and Toad, and even MCU veteran Thor, but many other actors and characters have been rumored to appear in the MCU’s Deadpool & Wolverine.

While many actors have been rumored to be making cameo appearances in Deadpool & Wolverine, pop superstar Taylor Swift has been one of the most popular suggestions. These rumors have been fueled by Swift’s appearances alongside Reynolds, Jackman, and Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy, with many hoping this could hint at her inclusion as Dazzler, a singing mutant from Marvel Comics. Levy has been bombarded with questions concerning Taylor Swift’s potential involvement in Deadpool & Wolverine, but when questioned recently by Entertainment Tonight, he again declined to comment, but did hint at the cameo potential of Deadpool & Wolverine.

I can’t even believe that you would dare ask me a question that you know I can’t answer. All of America knows I can’t answer that. But I will say, as I said earlier here at CinemaCon, the proliferation of rumors about who is and isn’t in this movie, it’s fabulous, because no one will ever know the truth until July 26.

Many Other MCU & X-Men Actors Have Been Rumored To Cameo In Deadpool & Wolverine

2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine is set to bridge the gap between Fox’s X-Men franchise and the MCU proper, which creates the opportunity for a huge number of cameo appearances. After Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox was finalized in 2019, Marvel Studios gained the ability to include Fox’s X-Men characters in the MCU, and several mainstays of the Deadpool franchise have been confirmed to be returning. Alongside Reynolds and Jackman, Deadpool & Wolverine’s cast includes Stefan Kapičić’s Colossus, Brianna Hildebrand’s Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Morena Baccarin’s Vanessa and Karan Soni’s Dopinder, but there are sure to be many surprising cameos, too.

Deadpool & Wolverine’s first trailer revealed that Aaron Stanford will be returning as John Allerdyce’s Pyro from X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand, while Jennifer Garner was also confirmed to be reprising her role of Elektra Natchios from 2003’s Daredevil and 2005’s Elektra in July 2023. The latter informed speculation that Ben Affleck’s Matt Murdock could also make an appearance, while Pyro’s involvement opens the door for more X-Men veterans to appear. Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen teased their returns as Professor X and Magneto, while the likes of James Marsden, Halle Berry and Famke Janssen have also been rumored.

Famke Janssen has recently denied her involvement as Jean Grey in Deadpool & Wolverine , but actors have been known to deny their appearances to forego spoilers.

Marvel Studios’ presentation of Deadpool & Wolverine at 2024’s CinemaCon revealed that Chris Hemsworth’s Thor would appear in archive footage from Thor: The Dark World, though cradling Deadpool’s dying body instead of Loki’s. Deadpool & Wolverine’s trailer showed footage of Chris Evans’ Captain America, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk and Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, too, though it’s unclear if these heroes will return in the MCU’s Phase 5. Taylor Swift has been heavily rumored to appear as Dazzler, while Daniel Radcliffe and Reynolds’ wife, Blake Lively, have also been rumored to pop up alongside many other cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine.
