More surprising Deadpool & Wolverine cameos have been teased by one of the original series’ returning actors, raising excitement for the MCU project.
One returning Deadpool & Wolverine actor has teased the possibility of even more Marvel and X-Men cameos in the upcoming MCU project. The first trailer for Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine released in February 2024, revealing new details about Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s debuts in the MCU proper as Wade Wilson’s Deadpool and James “Logan” Howlett’s Wolverine from Fox’s X-Men Universe. Scheduled for release on July 26, 2024, Deadpool & Wolverine will bring the titular Merc-with-a-Mouth into the MCU permanently, and he is expected to be joined by several exciting characters from 20th Century Fox’s previous Marvel movie franchise.
Several actors have already been confirmed to be reprising their Fox X-Men Universe roles in Deadpool & Wolverine’s cast, including Karan Soni, who is reprising his role of Deadpool’s chauffeur, Dopinder. During a recent conversation with Variety, Soni revealed that Ryan Reynolds had planned to include Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in Deadpool 3 during the production of 2018’s Deadpool 2. Jackman is reprising his iconic role in Deadpool & Wolverine, despite retiring from the role after 2017’s Logan, but Soni has teased “a lot of surprises” in Deadpool & Wolverine, hinting at even more characters making cameo appearances than anybody imagined.
This new MCU version is ultra-secretive. There are a lot of surprises. Let’s just say a lot of people traveled to London.
What Cameos Are We Expecting In Deadpool & Wolverine?
Some of Deadpool & Wolverine’s returning characters have been confirmed for quite some time, including Deadpool franchise regulars Stefan Kapičić’s Colossus, Brianna Hildebrand’s Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Shioli Kustuna’s Yukio and Morena Baccarin’s Vanessa. Deadpool 2’s Shatterstar and Peter have also been confirmed to be returning, portrayed by Lewis Tan and Rob Delaney, respectively. However, Deadpool and Wolverine will seemingly be joined by even more gifted individuals, as Deadpool & Wolverine’s trailer revealed Aaron Stanford’s return as Pyro, and The Hollywood Reporter previously confirmed Jennifer Garner’s return as Elektra Natchios from 20th Century Fox’s Daredevil and Elektra movies in the 2000s.
Karan Soni’s recent comments suggest that even more famous faces will be appearing in Deadpool & Wolverine, however, which has raised speculation about who will actually show up in the MCU’s Phase 5. It’s possible that the entire X-Men team from Fox’s franchise could return, including Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, Halle Berry’s Storm and James Marsden’s Cyclops, with the former noting on the Happy Sad Confused podcast that “there’s been a process.” With Garner returning as Elektra, there’s also been speculation that Ben Affleck could reprise his Daredevil role in Deadpool & Wolverine, though he hasn’t commented on the matter.
Popular theories have also suggested that Taylor Swift, a close friend to Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, could appear in Deadpool & Wolverine as the mutant popstar Dazzler. Even Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds’ own wife, has been rumored to be portraying a female variant of the Merc-with-a-Mouth in Deadpool & Wolverine, which would bring the husband and wife together on screen for the first time since 2011’s reviled Green Lantern. With filming wrapped on Deadpool & Wolverine, there’s no chance that more set photos will ruin these cameo surprises, meaning viewers will be in for a shock in July 2024.
