Ryan Reynolds gives his thoughts on the Marvel Cinematic Universe speculation about who is portraying Lady Deadpool in Deadpool & Wolverine. With Deadpool & Wolverine tackling the multiverse, audiences have long theorized that the movie will contain many different variants throughout its story. It has already been teased through trailers that there will be multiple Deadpool variants, as several versions of the antihero have already been revealed to be part of the plot.
In a new interview with Access Hollywood, Reynolds was asked if he could elaborate on the inclusion of Lady Deadpool in Deadpool & Wolverine, and if there was anything he could reveal regarding who may be playing the character. While there have been theories that a range of actors will be taking on the role – including Reynolds himself – the Marvel star shared the following:
I love listening to the conspiracy theories about who it could be, and my favorite one that traveled quite a bit was they think it was me. I don’t know how I could do that with my hips, I cannot walk like that to save my life. My shoulders are absurdly broad for a suit like that, so no, it is not me. I am going to find out myself. I specifically said not to tell me when we were shooting. I was like, ‘Pick anyone you want, alright? And don’t tell me.’
Lady Deadpool’s Deadpool & Wolverine Casting Theories Explained
Originally, the prime candidate rumored to be playing Lady Deadpool in Deadpool & Wolverine was Taylor Swift. As Swift has stated that she is a Deadpool fan, a lot of fans were convinced that she would be portraying Lady Deadpool. However, Marvel Studios confirming that Swift is not in Deadpool & Wolverine eliminated the popular fan casting idea.
The current most popular Deadpool & Wolverine theory is that Reynolds’ real-life wife and fellow actor, Blake Lively, is playing Lady Deadpool. As Lively never appeared in the first two Deadpool movies, it has been widely speculated that Deadpool & Wolverine will be when she finally makes her debut in the franchise. Since Deadpool & Wolverine will be the conclusion of Reynolds’ trilogy, this would definitely be a proper time for Lively to show up, especially for a big character like Lady Deadpool.
Given the upcoming MCU release has been teased to contain some truly exciting cameos and casting reveals, it stands to reason that Lady Deadpool’s casting will be a talented and promising actor, whoever is ultimately revealed to be in the role. As Deadpool & Wolverine arrives in only a couple of days, the identity of Lady Deadpool’s actor will be revealed sooner rather than later.
