Deadpool & Wolverine Can Repeat A Perfect X-Men Milestone 7 Years After Logan

Deadpool & Wolverine can bring a major aspect of Logan into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, repeating an emotional X-Men movie milestone years later. Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine was a major surprise. After years of being pestered by his friend about coming back to the role, Jackman agreed to return and be one of the leads of the anticipated Deadpool & Wolverine alongside Ryan Reynolds as the Merc With a Mouth. That decision is paying off in a big way for the actor and fans.

Deadpool & Wolverine is already breaking records months before it releases in theaters, with the most viewed movie trailer within 24 hours, the best first-day ticket sales in the Deadpool franchise — and 2024 — and more. The movie also marks many firsts for Jackman, which could have contributed to his decision to return. Jackman’s Wolverine will make his MCU debut, with the actor wearing Wolverine’s yellow and blue costume for the first time. Amid some exciting firsts, there is an aspect of 2017’s Logan that Deadpool & Wolverine‘s rumored cameos could help be repeated.

Deadpool & Wolverine Could End Logan And Charles Xavier’s Journeys Together…Again

One of the most emotional components of Logan was the fact that Jackman’s Wolverine was taking care of an elderly Charles Xavier as Professor X grasped with dementia and the loss of control over his powers. It was heartbreaking to see Charles in such a position, but also heartwarming to see Wolverine take care of the Professor after all he had done for him. Logan saw both characters die, seemingly serving as the final time Jackman and Patrick Stewart played their X-Men roles.

However, that did not turn out to be the case. Stewart returned as a variant of Charles Xavier in the MCU’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Jackman leads Deadpool & Wolverine with Ryan Reynolds. Given how there are many secret cameos reserved for when Deadpool & Wolverine reaches the big screen, Stewart’s Professor X emerges as one of the most likely of them. Since Jackman is too old to be the MCU’s Wolverine, the actor could now finally retire from the role with Deadpool & Wolverine, and Stewart appearing could repeat their previous retirement move from Logan.

Why Professor X Makes Sense For Deadpool & Wolverine

Charles Xavier Connects To The Movie’s Villain

Charles Xavier is the twin brother of the movie’s villain, Emma Corrin’s Cassandra Nova, making his appearance more likely. Adding to that, Stewart has teased his appearance as Professor X in the MCU movie. Speaking to the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Stewart was asked about appearing in Deadpool & Wolverine, saying, “It has come up, there’s been a process.” Previously, he had also teased a Deadpool & Wolverine return to Comicbook.com, saying, “I’ve been told to stand by. I know nothing more than that, honest.” Charles Xavier’s possible role in Deadpool & Wolverine could repeat Logan‘s major X-Men retirement milestone.
