Deadpool & Wolverine Brings Iron Man Back From The Dead In Wild MCU Theory

A new Deadpool & Wolverine theory reveals how Iron Man could make his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Deadpool & Wolverine has become one of the most anticipated movies in MCU history, and there is a good reason for it, as Deadpool & Wolverine‘s multiversal adventure is rumored to feature the return of multiple fan-favorite characters from Fox’s Marvel films. More than that, the movie is the first in the MCU to star characters who came from the Fox deal, which opens the door for the MCU’s version of the X-Men in the future.

With a multiverse story and already some exciting actor returns confirmed for Deadpool & Wolverine, the upcoming MCU movie has generated a lot of chatter. While characters from Fox’s X-Men movies, such as Patrick Stewart’s Charles Xavier or James Marsden’s Cyclops, would make more sense for the film, there is a chance that popular MCU players could come back for a role in the major Multiverse Saga event. No return would be bigger than Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, and a new Deadpool & Wolverine theory presents how Iron Man could come back from the dead.

Theory: Deadpool Or Wolverine Use The Infinity Gauntlet Instead Of Tony Stark In Endgame

A Return To Past Marvel Movies Has Been Teased

The trailers for the MCU movie have shown that Deadpool will be recruited by the TVA for an important mission. The organization has the means to allow Deadpool and Wolverine to travel to different timelines, and the second Deadpool & Wolverine trailer showed that Doctor Strange-like portals will also play a role in the film. On top of that, Deadpool & Wolverine will reportedly revisit MCU moments from Phases 1-4. Based on that, a new Deadpool & Wolverine theory proposes that the film will revisit Avengers: Endgame and bring Iron Man back to the MCU.

According to the MCU theory, the 2024 film would find Deadpool and Wolverine in Avengers: Endgame‘s final battle. There, the duo would completely change MCU history, as teased by the recent reveal. Both Deadpool and Wolverine have strong enough healing factors that they would be able to use Iron Man’s Nano Gauntlet to dust away Thanos and his army and survive the ordeal. This way, Iron Man would not have to die, with the original version of RDJ’s Tony Stark then accompanying Deadpool and Wolverine in their next adventure: the two upcoming Avengers films.

Deadpool & Wolverine’s Post-Credits Could Repeat A Deadpool 2 Trick

The MCU Movie Will Have At Least One Post-Credit Scene

Recently, Deadpool comic book creator Rob Liefeld confirmed Deadpool & Wolverine has a post-credits scene. While the creative did not explain what would happen in the scene, Liefeld hyped up the moment, which a Hollywood insider had called “mind-blowing,” by saying, “He ain’t lying to you!” In a movie that will already bring back Jackman as Wolverine and could feature many more surprising characters and locations during its runtime, it is interesting to think about what could fit the “mind-blowing” description. A return from RDJ as Iron Man would certainly fit the part.

If the movie were to use its post-credits scene to save Iron Man from dying, then Deadpool & Wolverine would be repeating a trick from the previous film in Reynolds’ superhero franchise. Deadpool 2‘s post-credits scene included the character using Cable’s time-traveling device to save the lives of multiple characters, including Wade’s girlfriend Vanessa — now ex-girlfriend in the MCU movie — and members of the X-Force team. Like Deadpool 2 did, Deadpool & Wolverine could also use its post-credits scene to rewrite history and bring back a beloved character in RDJ’s Iron Man.

What Robert Downey Jr. Has Said About Returning As Iron Man

RDJ’s Last MCU Film Was 2019’s Avengers: Endgame

While the theory is cool, it would mean nothing if Downey was not game to come back as Iron Man. Thankfully, the situation is much better. Recently, Robert Downey Jr. revealed he is open to an Iron Man return. Despite his character’s MCU death, Downey has said that he would “happily” return to the franchise, saying, “It’s too integral a part of my DNA.” Iron Man making a cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine is possible, thanks to the Tony Stark actor’s comments.

With RDJ open to an MCU return, the Deadpool & Wolverine theory could come true. Adding to the actor’s comments is the fact that an MCU reboot is rumored to happen after Avengers: Secret Wars. Getting RDJ back as Iron Man, as well as Chris Evans as Captain America and more, would be the perfect way to end the MCU as it currently stands. The first generation of heroes could band together to save the multiverse before the reboot, with a possible Iron Man return in Deadpool & Wolverine leading into the Avengers film.
