Deadpool & Wolverine Becomes The Biggest Superhero Movie Crossover Ever In Wild MCU Art

Deadpool & Wolverine brings together some major crossover concepts through new Marvel Cinematic Universe art. Despite only a limited amount of Marvel movies releasing in 2024, Deadpool & Wolverine is looking to be the biggest comic book film of the entire year. Not only is Hugh Jackman reprising the role of Wolverine after initially retiring from the role in 2017, but Ryan Reynolds will finally become part of the MCU timeline, with his threequel bringing him over to the franchise.

As the Deadpool & Wolverine cast will feature a lot of the previous Deadpool and X-Men characters, there will also be a number of surprises along the way that the world has yet to discover. While time will tell what secret cameos may be in store for the audience, Erathrim shared new artwork where they brought together a very fascinating group of superheroes together for a massive crossover.

The superhero crossover art features Andrew Garfield, Tom Holland, and Tobey Maguire’s respective versions of Spider-Man, along with Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, Chris Evans’ Captain America, and Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man in the background. However, the funnier bit about the Deadpool & Wolverine fan art is Reynolds’ Marvel character donning a Green Lantern costume, serving as a big nod to the actor’s past gig playing Hal Jordan in the 2011 film.

How Deadpool & Wolverine Could Realistically Pull Off A DC Crossover

As Deadpool & Wolverine is approaching its July release, it’s worth asking whether or not the idea of a crossover with DC is remotely possible in the Phase 5 movie. For decades, there has always been an interest with passionate comic book fans to see DC and Marvel have a proper live-action crossover. Given that Warner Bros. Discovery is the owner of the DC rights, making a physical crossover with characters showing up in Disney-produced films or TV shows is very complicated from a legal standpoint, especially with a major film like Deadpool & Wolverine.

The closest that Deadpool & Wolverine can get to any crossovers with the DC realm is through the franchise’s main drive, which is breaking the fourth wall with jokes that would get very meta. The past Deadpool films have not been shy from poking fun at Reynolds’ personal feelings about the Green Lantern movie, as the actor has been very vocal regarding the release being imperfect. It wouldn’t be shocking at all if one of the bigger jokes in Deadpool & Wolverine throws another punch at Green Lantern, which is the most fitting “crossover” for Reynolds’ franchise.

While chances are slim, it would be quite a surprise if Deadpool & Wolverine even went as far as making fun of the death of the DCEU and how Warner Bros. Discovery is having to start over with James Gunn’s DC Universe. References and nods will likely be the best that the DC and Marvel audiences ever get between the two franchises as far as crossovers go. Whether any DC references end up in Deadpool & Wolverine remains to be seen as the MCU gets ready for Wade’s arrival next month.
