Exclusive: Deadpool & Wolverine star teases that there will be more Marvel surprises in the new installment, as they urge fans not to spoil the fun.
Karan Soni teases his return in Deadpool & Wolverine while also stressing that there are still some unspoiled Marvel Cinematic Universe surprises. Wade Wilson’s trilogy is ending on a major note, as not only will Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine be back, but it will mark Ryan Reynolds’ entry into the MCU after previously existing in the Fox X-Men franchise. Deadpool & Wolverine, which is the only MCU movie to come out from Marvel Studios this year, has been shrouded in secrecy and continues to be kept under wraps.
At this year’s SXSW, Screen Rant exclusively spoke with Soni while promoting A Nice Indian Boy and opened up about his return to the Deadpool franchise as Dopinder. While he couldn’t reveal specifics, Soni teased that there are many surprises coming in Deadpool & Wolverine, sharing the following:
Yeah, it was. That was the first time in the MCU, and you really do feel like Ryan is taking advantage of that. I feel like everything gets made kind of at its time. Originally, we were gonna make that one years ago, and it would have been good. But I think this feels right, because the MCU is in a transition phase itself. I feel like they’re ready to make fun of some of the stuff, and the audience kind of wants that.
Definitely going into it with Kevin and everyone there, Ryan is definitely roasting all of it – the studio and all this stuff. I think it’s kind of coming at the right time, and they’re definitely giving it all the resources. There’s a lot of surprises and a lot of things that the audience doesn’t know about yet , so I think it’ll be a fun experience. And I hope people don’t spoil it as it gets closer , because I think it’ll be a fun experience to see the whole thing.
What Surprises Could Deadpool 3 Still Have In Store?
Some Fox X-Men Returns Were Reveald In The Deadpool & Wolverine Trailer
While the first Deadpool & Wolverine trailer gave a glimpse of returning characters, there are a lot of theories about some major Marvel players showing up in the film that Soni may be referring to in his quote. For over a year, it has been highly speculated that various Fox Marvel cast members, especially from the original X-Men movies, will be back for Deadpool & Wolverine. Since this film is seemingly marking the proper farewell to that universe, it would only make sense if actors like Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellan came back as Professor X and Magneto.
A huge Deadpool & Wolverine surprise would be to see multiple Wolverine variants, especially if played by other actors. Given the Fantastic Four Easter eggs that were spotted on the Deadpool & Wolverine set, it wouldn’t come as a shock if 20th Century Fox’s original Fantastic Four actors were in the movie to some capacity. With Jennifer Garner’s Elektra set to show up, it would be a huge bonus if Ben Affleck’s Daredevil made a cameo too.
In late February, Tom Hiddleston remained very coy when asked if Loki is returning in Deadpool & Wolverine.
Another big surprise that Deadpool & Wolverine could still be hiding is the larger MCU of it all, as there could be some major Marvel Studios stars in the film that they have managed to keep under wraps. If any of the original Avengers popped up for a brief cameo, that alone would garner a lot of attention for Deadpool & Wolverine. With only a few more months left until Deadpool & Wolverine arrives in theaters, the world will soon know what else is in store for the threequel.
A Nice Indian Boy is set to have its world premiere at SXSW on March 12.
