David Corenswet is Freakishly Strong, Even Stronger Than UFC’s Scariest Fighter Alex Pereira When It Comes to Grip Strength

James Gunn’s Superman David Corenswet proves his strength is not all movie magic with a grip strength more than UFC fighter Alex Pereira.

In the newly released teaser trailer, DC fans got their first look at David Corenswet as Kal-El in James Gunn’s Superman. The actor replaced Henry Cavill after Gunn decided to reboot the DCEU under his leadership’s newly launched DC Universe. While the teaser trailer starts with a bruised and battered Superman, Corenswet’s strength has no naysayers.

In a recent promotional video, Corenswet tested his grip strength with that of Nicholas Hoult, who plays Lex Luthor in the film. The Superman star reportedly had a great score that while it may not be as great as Kal-El himself, was still pretty impressive. To compare, UFC legend Alex Periera’s grip strength score clocked in significantly less than Correnswet’s.

Though fans were not happy with Henry Cavill’s replacement David Corenswet in James Gunn’s new and improved DCU, the latter seems to have found some form of acceptance after the release of the teaser trailer of Superman. Gunn announced recently that it was the most-watched trailer in the history of DC and Warner Bros (via Instagram).

While promoting the teaser trailer, Corenswet was asked to test his grip strength along with co-star Nicholas Hoult, who plays Superman’s arch-nemesis Lex Luthor in the film. Holt got a score of 118 pounds (Lex Luthor is a man of brains anyway). Corenswet proved his suitability for the Kryptonian superhero by clocking in a whopping 172 pounds.

Both Hoult and Corenswet seemed to take the competition sportingly despite the wide disparity in their strengths. The Superman actor seemed less confident in the beginning and said, “Man, can you imagine if I lose?”

However, the actor had an incredible score and even joked that he was ready to retire now. Fans were pretty supportive of Corenswet and appreciated the real-life strength of the Superman actor.

David Corenswet has a surprisingly higher grip strength than a UFC legend

Alex Pereira

David Corenswet had his breakthrough with the Netflix show House of Cards after which he starred in the streaming platform’s The Politician and Hollywood. The actor’s filmography does not boast of any action-heavy films except for the recently released Twisters. Hence, his grip strength and bulk up for the role of Superman are admirable.

With a 172-pound score, Corenswet not only beat his co-star Nicholas Hoult but also some impressive UFC fighters. The actor seemed to have scored higher than ‘Poatan’ Alex Pereira who ranked second among the fighters participating in UFC 307. Pereira reportedly clocked in a score of 159 pounds with the same grip-strength test.

While Corenswet scored higher than Pereira, he also seemed to rank higher than Khalil Rountree Jr. The UFC fighter ranked higher than Pereira in the test and scored 166 pounds. However, he lost against Alex Pereira at UFC 307 back in October (via Bloody Yelbow). Corenswet also seemed to score higher than Kevin Holland and Jon Jones
